Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Hmmm, wonder when I would have to order to get a CRD Overland right around the last week of August?

A lot of great conversation earlier on tire size and I guess it may come down to personal preference. I am getting an Overland V6 and wanted the off road package. Once I reviewed that NADA has a very large increase in price adjustment for the 20" wheels it seemed simple to me. I was not going to downsize to 18" and pay $200 more to do so just to pick up skid plates and a badge. Instead I am keeping the 20" and the dealer is installing all 3 skid plates and adding the badge for $500. When I trade it in NADA believes the 20" are almost a $1000 upgrade. 95% of my driving is on black top but I love the protection of skid plates. I also like the added residual of the 20" wheels.

So if your basically always on the black top, why get skid plates?? For the once and a bluemoon you go offloading with highway street tires on 20" rims. If you stick with OEM tire size on the 20's, there aren't much options compared to the 18's

Fully agree. Not much off road however we live in rural Wisconsin and sometimes get unplowed roads. Many times with ice chunks and debris in the drifts. And sometimes we do drive gravel roads. This is why I still want the skid plates to protect the underside. Another part of me (we also own a Wrangler) find it hard to own any 4x4 without underside protection. As mentioned, I was surprised to see how NADA values the 20" wheels. When I did the math it seemed like Jeep should have made the. Off road package a credit rather than a $200 cost. In the long run you are loosing too much "mathematical" value downgrading to the 18" tires. Or it could simply be it is my wife's vehicle and the 20" wheels look better and the skid plates protect the vehicle if she puts it in the ditch with the street rated 20" ...

But if your 20" wheels are all dented to hell, you won't get that sort of resale. It might even cost you money because people will need to replace them.

Not that t makes a difference as I am picking up my vehicle next week but ... Has anyone read why quadra drive is not available on a V6? Can't believe the 6 does not have enough power to run this system. Did not need the 8 but wanted the quadra drive as it is one of the most advanced systems out there. If they can put a LS axle in a wringer they sure should be Abe to do so in a GC.

Can't disagree. I guess it all depends on purpose of vehicle.

I've always been able to arrange tire trade ins for my new vehicles at Discount Tire. They've always been able to order what I want, do a good job and aren't too expensive.

It was cold and rainy when I picked my Overland up at the dealer Saturday. I noticed some condensation in one of the headlights and showed the salesman. He said the hid enclosure is vented because of the heat the bulb puts out and the condensation wasn't unusual because of the weather. He told me it would clear up quickly driving with the lights on, but if it persisted to bring it in and they would order a new fixture. The condensation was gone by the time I got home (3 miles). I'll be keeping an eye on it.
