We're moving to Florida (originally from New England, then the Pacific Northwest) in a few weeks, and I have to admit I was surprised to find that almost every jeep on dealer lots in Tampa was 4x2.

Looks like we'll have to order exactly what we want once we get there....that was the plan but was expecting that there would be a mix of 4x2 and 4x4 in inventory.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Ok...so we are getting closer to (CR)D-day. I have a few questions.

1. My goal is to order a loaded Limited which appears to be $4k less with ALL the same tech features, minus beaded seat edges, minor dash trim, color matched exterior lowers, and color matched carpet when ordering non-black interior. It's cosmetic only, right? Am I missing someting?

2 You guys established that, although the build website recently was changed to allow 20's with ORA2, it's not possible...fine...so someone proposed to add skidplates at the dealer. What about the Quadra Lift with 20's? The Overland and Summit have it right? I like the ride height adjustment. I'm fine with the 18's but I have factory 20's on my current ride and like them. It bothers me that Jeep won't offer either tire/rim combo regardless...but they make the rules. Their loss because I won't spend the extra $1000 otherwise.

I already own a big 4x4 with plenty (maybe more) offroad capabilities. The GC CRD is a business ride, it's little brother, my new toy. The ORA2 is just cool, to be honest. I will use it offroad just because I can. I suspect the vast majority (maybe not here) are in this boat.

Thanks for your advice...

If they can put a LS axle in a wringer they sure should be Abe to do so in a GC.
The reason the V6 is not able to accommodate the QDII (ELSD) is that the V6 GC has a smaller diameter diffential/housing and the ELSD with not fit inside. Of course, they could use the larger V8/CRD diff but it would require another ratio/set of ring and pinion gears to be made just for the V6 and that's not cost effective in several respects for the buyer and Chrysler vs the amount of demand for it with the V6 in a GC.

QT2 is standard in Limited trim, it provides a manual 4-low mode.

QD is the one that has the LSD, you can order QD with the off-road package in the Limited trim as long as you get the V8 or CRD.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I appreciate your reply. Digging through the standard and option feature lists is confusing! You gave me things to check (if I can trust the build website)

Yes. Quadra Lift is on the Limited with ORA2 only according to the build site.

Quote:
Power folding mirrors w puddle lamps
Limited - "Pwr Heat Mem Multi-Function Mirrors w/Man Fold-Away"

Quote:
Rear Ambient lighting (to go with front ambient)
I don't see any reference to ambient lighting on the Limited.

Quote:
Dimming Side Passenger mirror
Limited - Driver's Auto-Dimming Exterior Mirror only

Quote:

I see that Quadra-Drive II is part of ORA2 on the Limited and Overland? It list rear limited slip on both. I don't see Quadra-Track II as an option with rear limited slip unless its on the base Overland 4x4 system.

Quote:

Yes, nice touch along with matching interior carpet on the Overland. The pictures show dark carpet only for the Limited.

So, if I understand....dash wood, seat trim, carpet color, pwr folding mirrors, color match exterior trim are Overland only. The rest is identical on the below builds.

$48,785 Limited 4x4 CRD, 18's with LG2, ORA2

$54,180 Overland 4x4 CRD, 18's with ORA2

$5,395 difference

Thanks again,

bd

Thanks. My intention is to get QD2 with CRD. Doesn't it have the same 2.72 4-low as the QT2?

There's a whole thread on this, and I tried to summarize the differences based on the information in that thread and elsewhere in this post:

2014 fully loaded limited or overland?

But based on the MSRPs you're listing, you're missing a few things. The MSRP you have for the Overland must be including the Advanced Tech package, which I believe is automatically selected for you on the Overland when you pick CRD (but is not required on Limited when you pick CRD). So with the way you've priced your Limited, the Limited won't have the Adv Tech but the Overland will.

Also, it looks like you didn't add the 8.4AN to the Limited, so your Limited won't have the navigation but the Overland will.

If you really load the Limited so that it's comparable to the Overland (including ORA2) with the CRD the price diff comes out to $3,300.

I have seen a 2014 Summit 4x4 in Tampa at the Dealer(Ferman). However, it is true they sell more 4x2's in Tampa than 4x4's. Hard to believe. "Jeep 4x2", makes me gag to say out loud.

The Quadra trac 2 transfer case is the same as the Quadra Drive 2's transfer case.
