Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I hate to jinx it, but my Jeep has also been flawless! I had a few issues with Uconnect, and some other settings, but it turned out I was the culprit. I've been over it with a fine toothed comb several times now just trying to find an issue, but nada. Pressure washes and road-trips in storms, no leaks. Once I set up my phone correctly, no bluetooth issues. I haven't got out my calipers, but the fit and finish is dead on to my eyeball. Just wiped it down again, and not a single booger in the paint. I'm going to quit looking for problems now. Something will have to bite me in the ass to get my attention. "Knock on wood".
Actually, the only thing in this whole experience that bothered my was the Latitude tires that came with ORAII, but I've already changed those. I see the '14 Trailhawk is coming with GY Silent Armors with Kevlar. Too bad that wasn't the ORAII tire on the Overland.

This was higher than dealership and this dealership has always been honest with me. I don't think most people realize how much extra hoops they are doing to diesels to make them EPA compliant. It is stronger standards in US than anywhere else. I am hoping I am wrong and there aren't any delays. I shied away from CRD because of all the EPA regulations. Not sure why you think they would have "EPA approval forever ago" but I am sure they are testing them and hopefully coming soon!

Honestly, I can't find a darn thing wrong with it. I'm not the guy that's going to find a microscopic bubble in the paint but the fit and finish is awesome. All that stuff in I purgatory was time well spent.

The paint and fitting of panels on mine were also absolutely perfect. I looked over it multiple times Nd washed it got the first time to better inspect everything. No issues found.
Thanks again to Chevy and company at JNAP.

The engine was certified before they decided to market it in the GC. Per MY sources. The first commercial advertising was the Jeep/NSO Superbowl slot which featured a CRD. And as far as I know, all the ads since then have featured a CRD. But regardless, the EPA has already given it a go. There is no more R&D after a product gets the green light. Nor would they be marketing it the way they are if the technology wasnt sufficient.

Furthermore, we haven't built any CRD pilots all year, but certainly would still be if the truck couldn't "pass." And all of these 3 liter diesels in here sitting on pallets, would've been shipped back out bc they wouldn't be getting used.

Not knocking your source, but I think they may need to climb a lil higher up the chain for info.. Or you could just give em my number.

I think it is a shame how much emission bs they put on diesel. The trucks run 2 cats, plus a dpf... I wonder how long all the emission stuff will last on the diesels. Plus everyone used to have more flexibility on tuning a diesel but its getting more restrictive on what a person can and can't do with a diesel.

I agree! But that's what the industry has come to.. Coming from a family of truckers and having seen the change in the Diesel engines over the years, I can honestly say the worst thing that has happened to them is ultra-low sulfur fuel. It's just no good for em.. And in regard to the DPFs, I can attest to $1k cleanings at the CAT dealer when the thing gets plugged up, and doing random 45 minute 1500+ degree exhaust regens on the side of the road or at a truckstop, when the truck goes into limp mode bc it wants to clear its lungs... So undoubtedly the DPFs in passenger applications will have to be cleaned too, and probably more often (although significantly cheaper), bc the exhaust can't handle the extreme temps that semis can. And the cow-piss (urea), which is another joke, does nothing for keeping the thing unrestricted. It just cuts emissions.

There's just too much junk involved. I won't even go into all the various forms of EGR... My bro-in-law is the "Milous" of all things Detroit Diesel, and we're always talking about how great the old diesel days were, and he gives me the scoop on the next crap technology's set to hit the market. I remember when common-rail wasnt common. And the Diesel engine was more reliable than a gas motor for any application. As far as I'm concerned, the old 3406 CAT will always be 'the' Diesel engine.

But with these passenger cars now (and even the semi's), buying one without extending the warranty forever/as long as you can, is DEFINITELY asking for trouble! I don't care who makes it! It's like they're built to self destruct as soon as the warranty is up, and all the maintaince needed is never covered even when you do still have it.

The good old "3406 CAT", I couldn't agree with you more. I preferred the B model over the C and E since they didn't have electronics involved.

I don't think the engines will give anyone trouble but everything bolted on them behind the engine is what I would be most concerned about. I am interested in seeing what the CRD Jeep will do but extremely happy with the HEMI in the Summit.

With the emissions, it is definitely like asking a runner to breath through a straw while they are running a race...
