Already own a diesel. I don't think making a comparison to the traditional HD truck market is valid, the comparison should be made to other passenger cars/light trucks.
For example, as percentage of base MSRP:
Toureg: 8% more ($3500)
Jetta Sportwagen: 5.5% more ($1400)
BMW X5: 2.6% ($1500) compared to the premium, same exact option set.
GC Limited: 10.6% more
Add to that, as another posted said, the jeep pricing in other markets.
Don't mean to rant. I'm just bummed that I priced a Limited 2013 Hemi at $43,010 MSRP and getting the same options in a 2014 with the CRD is $47,900. I was expecting around $45k, guess I was naive or overly optimistic.
