Buy the warranty when you want if you can negotiate the price when you're buying the car,you can do it just before the warranty expires I've done that..just shop around.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

It is a nice truck. We'll have to see it in daylight but it drove well.

There was a little glitch with UCONNECT - or perhaps I did not know what to do or maybe both: I could not make the soft-touch check-marks to stick in the Security Options menu. Then when I restarted the car, the options were there, checked as I wanted. Also, I am not hearing any bips from the Blind Spot Monitoring alerts, despite having the correct setting of both lights and sound. Is there any magic to making those bips louder ?

And come think of it, I had to override the wipers - I do not think they turned on, despite having the setting in UCONNECT. But otherwise everything seems to work as intended. And despite driving there in a 350 wheel lb-ft AWD Subaru and driving back in the Jeep, the V6 seemed perfectly fine for this car. Perhaps it is my low expectations - and I did drive it in ECO mode only. Anything else I forget ? 5 miles on the car at delivery. Ah and one more thing: I do have the Trail Rated badges. And one more thing: Lux II on the Limited does not have the awful wood trim steering wheel - that's awesome. I guess I could continue - the Aux/USV/SD card worked fine (as did Bluetooth streaming) but mine was so much more recessed than it appears in pictures.

Lastly, the headlights - yes they've got condensation. Somehow I was under the impression that the LED lights on the Lux II/Overland come with a solid (one piece) honeycomb section under the lights. Mine has the cutoff for the headlight squirter - but probably there isn't anything behind it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Congrats on your jeep f1anatic!

I just started the haggling-by-email process today with two dealers, and so far they have tried to give me "deals" that are above invoice. I already have an affiliate code through accessfund, and will keep working towards hopefully 3% below invoice.

I'm looking at getting the max care lifetime warranty as well, same boat as a few others have mentioned where I plan on driving the vehicle until the wheels fall off. Thanks very much for all the info on dealer costs, I love being an informed customer, instead of guessing!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Mark me down as "Delivered"! I just got my new Overland this afternoon and took the wife and son out for a spin. The car is so far perfect! The steering is dead-on aligned, no 'waves' in the window glass, no extraneous noises and my iPhone 5 linked right up.

I did accidentally trigger the panic alarm and didn't realize that it could be turned off by waiting 3 seconds and hitting the button again. I drove the neighbors nuts for about 5 minutes until I found the directions in the manual. Duuuh!

Thanks for a great job from Milous and the JNAP crew and all the good advice from the terrific folks on the reflector!

Still waiting to order the CRD. In the meantime, I am thinking about the lifetime MaxCare. I am using a friends and family discount. Does anyone know if this applies to the MaxCare or is this something that you negotiate? I found the following site CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online. on the JeepForum site that supposedly sells the same warranty. Has anyone used this? Thanks

Sadly, unless they change their policy when the CRD ordering banks open up, you will not be able to get the lifetime warranty. Chrysler currently does not allow lifetime on diesels.

I noticed the exact same thing when I picked up my Overland today, too. This is probably now a known problem, and likely will corrected in the next firmware update.

I'm like you, I will keep my vehicle for at least 10 years. I went thru the quote process at the web site above, and lifetime isn't an option for the diesel, only 7 years. For 7/100000 it is well over $2000. My inclination when I order my CRD is not to get any extended warranty and take my chances on repairs. Honestly, maybe I've just been lucky, but in 40 years of car ownership I've never had a major auto repair bill in my life. I take care of them, don't abuse them and they treat me well. Granted this will be only my second American built car (the other was a Ford Explorer), but I believe (hope?) Jeep has their act together from a quality perspective. Buying American is a high priority for me this time around. One of the local dealers offers a free lifetime (non-transferable) power train warranty from a 3rd party, and that may persuade me to buy it from them assuming they will also honor my affiliate pricing, which they said they would.

I just found the 2014 JGC User Guide has the Diesel Info... I hand't noticed this before:

I have only had one foreign car in my life, and over a dozen new US cars/trucks. I never bought a warranty until now. Mine was a cheap 5/60,000. There were two reasons which had nothing to do with overall Jeep quality. The first was the fact that Chrysler has no provisions for loaners. The second is that with all the integrated systems there is more of a chance for an expensive repair. And (I guess 3 reasons) this is a vehicle I will probably keep more than a few years.

I hope in five years I can sigh and say, that was a waste of $765. That will really be the best outcome IMHO

Hmm, I plan on ordering a CRD and have heard that there is no lifetime for the diesel, but this link allowed me to at least get a quote on a lifetime AND diesel was an option to choose...although I'm a little leery of online stuff, and the actual max care documents that opened up DID exclude SRT's Vipers and diesels (so if you spring for one of our more expensive vehicles-you can't get lifetime coverage!!??), would have to confirm with the dealer. Still waiting on May 7......fingers crossed!
