I don't think Pat is part of the vendors anymore but he still frequents the site. He was offering 2% under invoice to JG members. I originally ordered an Overland from him back in January. When we found out the true price of it, I had to cancel the order (wife wasn't liking the price). So then I emailed dealers for price around the state and found the best deal at 6% under invoice. Deals can be had, just depends on if your willing to do a little work for it. I never stepped foot into any dealer nor did I call any of them for a price. When I found the winning dealer, I called to place the order.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

You should have gone with Chris at HAWK when he was offering 4%. I am yet to pull out the picture and write in his forum but he made the entire process a joy and to this day Not only do i have no regrets but i definitely endorse the entire experience there. If wife wanted to have the picture taken with him and the car, that says something.

And oh, Chris managed to get me a car pretty much free of the commonly reported issues here, so far.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Dealer doc fee is CT range from 245 to 499 for new car dealers. It is a NON negotiable number, the dealer must charge their published amount to every vehicle that leaves the floor. There is also no Cap to the amount, so a dealer could charge 10K if they so choose. Some used car dealers don't charge anything. The number must be displayed for all to see. When the State does an audit, they can and do check through paperwork to make sure the fee is there. That's why its preprinted on the sales order.

Along the same lines, there is a 200 fee in CT for Vin etching. The dealer is required to VIN etch the car, but you are not required to buy the insurance that the 200 gets. Therefore you do not need to pay the fee.

In Wisconsin I'll bet you did get a better deal in your surrounding area,I wish I could drive all the way up there to enjoy those benefits also. Its interesting to see the variances in pricing here in Illinois but you're right, contacting various dealers via email is a good idea but the problem is watching out for when the dealers try to beat you up on the trade in..possible great deal on the new car but they try to make it up on the trade..lotta hassles there.

I whole heartedly agree. We went with a local small dealer who was easy to work with. They were also very honest and upfront that they had no idea how to value the trade (07 limited 3.0L CRD) because they were only available in 07 in CT and very few were ever shipped here. Picking up our new 14 overland 3.6 Monday. Intentionally avoided the diesel this time around.

I have 2 dealers close to me, 1 wouldn't go anything below 1% and the other did 5% with 4 free oils changes. The dealer I am going with is just over an hour away. A lot of the dealers I contacted either wanted nothing to do with me or would do $500 under invoice down to 3%. I called Marino's (I think that is what it is called) and talked to Ed, the regional guy about a price. He would not believe me when I told him about 5-6% under invoice, he was telling me it was a scam. It was hard for me to get in a word edgewise with him, but he would only go to 2%. A few days later his secretary called me to ask if I was still interested, I gave her my impression of this guy and said "not a chance." Others have bought from them and didn't have a problem. Pat from Field's was straight forward and so is Chris from Hawk (site vendor), no bs there.

I had my 08 trailblazer to sell when I ordered and thought about doing a trade, but why lose a few grand when it doesn't really take much to sell it myself. I out it on Autotrader, craigslist, carsoup, and cars.com. I sold it for the price I was asking in 2 days from someone on Craigslist. They were shocked on how clean it was and wondered why I even washed it cuz of the snow.. More money for me to out as a deposit. It takes time but it is worth it in the end. Some dealers will give you a good deal on your trade but if they don't normally sell those cars they might hit you more on it.

I took delivery last night of my overland... The doc fee was $80. Didn't notice til I got home that the back door on the driver's side wasn't flush. Other than that it's phenomenal. I also leased, because it makes so much more sense with the low residual and super low money factor. I'll decide in 3 years if I want to purchase and unless interest rates totally skyrocket in 3 years I'll be in great shape.

Debating this now.

Do I eat a couple grand on the trade for the sake of ease, or do a Private party sale.

I am certain I can get a decent trade on my current Jeep. I've had the dealer down the way (part of AutoNation) doing all the maintenance on the rig so they both have full records on it and know all they have to do to certify it as pre-owned is wash it (full maintenance records and done timed with the book.. hell, I even replaced the worn out Goodyear's with the OEM versions).

That being said, I know I could get more private party.

However, it's suuuuuch a pain in the ass to sell a vehicle private party at times. So many lookie loo's and flakes.
