For release to the general public or as mules?

If they are for general consumption, that could mean that those of us ordering CRDs (God willing we're ever able to) could, in theory, get our rides pretty damn quick if they are already built.

That would leave the question, how the hell are the JNAP boys going to sign our rides???

The original start date that I posted earlier last year (late March) will only have been delayed about 7-weeks if production ends up starting on 5/13. Production of the overseas CRD models has been going on for awhile now, and a ton of U.S. CRDs have been built for quite awhile now, all undergoing testing and certification.

Any idea on the weird start date of 5/13. I am just starting to learn from you guys how the production cycles work in a Jeep Factory. It would seem the plan is to start up mid cycle. Perhaps they are waiting for final Certification from the EPA or something like that. Any ideas?

Not for the general public, although later down the road a few could make it to retail. They were built for EPA certification, crash testing, fast feedback, corporate use, road testing etc.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

When you go with the "OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE II (AWY)" package on the Overland it comes with "P265/60R18 BSW AS On/Off Rd Tires (TP5)" These are apparently the "Michelin Latitude Tour" from the photos on WK2Jeeps.com (The Limited Shown clearly has the Off-road Package), as well as Tire Racks OEM on the 2013.

The "Michelin Latitude Tour" as people have said here before is not an All terrain tire.

Here is a description, from tire rack:
Quote:
The Latitude Tour is Michelin's Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season light truck tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, sport utility vehicles and light duty pickups looking to combine comfort, wear and fuel efficiency. Most Latitude Tour tires meet Michelin’s Green X standards for long tread life, good wet traction and low rolling resistance, as well as provide year-round traction, including in light snow.
So my question is why did Jeep choose these tires for the "Off-Road" package?
Possible answers:
  1. Increased EPA economy rating.
  2. Road safety(e.g. dry stopping distance).
  3. General On Road handling.
  4. Price.
  5. Road Noise(i.e. dB rating)

Any other thoughts?
My guess is a combination of 1,2 and 5.
I am immediately switching to an all Terrain Tire (DISCOVERER A/T3™).
If I'm right and the new A/T tires will change the MPG I'm getting, does anyone have any idea how much the numbers will change?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I posed that question to Jeep customer service. After several phone calls from a woman at Jeep and sending her (at her request) a copy of my window sticker, her answer was to speak to my sales manager. This was after I told her this was not specific to my vehicle. I asked her to take 5 minutes and check out the Michelin description of the tires. She told me she is not allowed to do that, but must go with whatever Jeep tells her.

It seems that the folks at Jeep are afraid to know the truth.

I asked Milous awhile back if he could provide contact info for anyone at Jeep who could look into this and maybe correct it. I got no reply.

Maybe this would be a better class action suit than the one the was proposed last week.

Because that was the best bid from the manufacturer for a decent tire. It is all about profit with a "sufficient" value. Also, if they selected a real all terrain tire, people would whine about poor ride, noise, and length of life.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I am pricing a 2014 Jeep Overland 4X4 in No. Cal. I have a Affiliate quote that looks good except the price on the V8 is:

EZH 5.7L V8 MDS VVT Engine 2,695 /2,399

As opposed to the Milius number of:

EZH [MSRP $2,195 / INV. $ 1,954]

Does anyone know if there has been a price increase of is this just a cute trick?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

When I bought my Overland, ordered January 22/delivery date March 14, the prices Milous had posted were accurate. I too used the affiliate program.

What other options did you price?

If you select ORII first, it will show a lower price than if you select V8 first. Then, when you select the V8 it shows a higher price. That's because since you already selected ORII, the engine selection also adds Quadradrive. This is just an example of how selecting options in different orders may make one appear more expensive. In this example the cost of the Quadradrive shifted from one package to another.

It's the total cost that counts.
