The trail rated badge would look better on both sides gives the vehicle a little more balance as far as looks.

My buddy has a new TDI and LOVES it.

I drove it. It corners great and is very powerful. The interior is a step below the Summit but is still very plush.

Today I stopped by a dealer window shopping and thought the majority of the 2014's had this bronze colored trim inside, even a Laredo E. Is it based on your interior color, like black interior gets the silver trim, and a tan interior gets the bronze trim?
Go to this Jeep Link for "Interior"
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee | Interior Leather Seats & 6 Speakers | Jeep

Then Scroll Down past the picture of the Seat to just below where it says "Take Control of Comfort" and will show a picture of the Interior Dash area.

You will see 9 Dots at the bottom part of the picture and each Dot shows a different Interior based on the Trim Level you select, Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit etc. That will show you what Trim comes with each available interior color.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Not for anything, but despite being at a convention this weekend, with the CRD ordering due to be opened this Tuesday I have been monitoring this forum daily and page by page. I did not actually see a post by Milous stating that production has been pushed back till June. Did I miss it?
Either way, strongly hoping for ordering to be opened up this Tuesday as planned.

He hasn't posted anything per se, but did update the first post with a new production date. Not sure when that happened but it did.

In post 1 of this thread he changed the availability of the crd to late June. It was may. Probably not a good sign for us. I feel like I'm Charlie Brown trying to kick the football, and it Lucy keeps pulling it away

Production start changed from may 13 to late June, whatever that means. Post one if this thread.

For me, at this point I am glad I did not pre trade my pick up, cause I'm out of the market now until late fall, if then. My deal I had worked on trades is surely dead, so forget it doing anything soon now. Maybe if the CRD is actually available in fall.... But the I am starting to get a bad taste in my mouth with jeep anyway. Regardless if this forum, the CRD had been on the website since march and on tv shortly thereafter. Jeep marketing department, major fail in my book.

Just found it. Very bummed. I was planning on 6-8 weeks for delivery, after I ordered. I don't suppose July is likely if they don't start production till late June. Still, it would be nice to just get the order in and be done with it. It would make things feel closer.

I'm Mr. optimist - still holding out hope it's a mistake or something. We need some kind of Milous bat light that we can signal for him lol.

Why would I need to buy an Explorer to be on their forums? I AM on their forums.

As for boasting, no, it's called being "informed".

Bang for buck, the two go head to head nicely, each having Pro's and Cons.

The big Pro's for the Explorer are pricepoint and cargo room (either for people via the 3rd row, or for cargo in general). It's also decently equipped for it's pricepoint and offers a nice engine with decent mileage (again, nearly the same HP/Torque as the Hemi, but with fuel econ closer to the V6).

The Con's are intrusive road noise, no where near the offroad capabilities of the Jeep, and the interior (while nice) is not as nice as the Jeep.

Again, it's not about boasting (read my write up on the Ford Explorer), it's about being informed. At this rate, getting the rig I'm after it looking like an indefinite wait from Jeep (The CRD for the Hemi Power + V6 MPG), settling on the Explorer, or going after something equipped with a CRD (but at a much steeper pricepoint, VW TDI, Audi Q5/Q7, MB ML/GL, BMW 535d).

The only official mention of a date was clearly a joke, a lie, or the guy is an asshat...

...mind you, he said that in March...

Do I *really* want the Explorer, no, it was Plan B. Right now, Plan B is quickly becoming Plan A.

This CRD launch smacks of the Dart launch. Anyone recall that complete cluster?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I understand the frustration of the CRDers. While it is true Jeep/Milous etc never promised/posted a firm release date for US, having access to all of the JG/WK2Jeeps tidbits has heightened anticipation which has morphed into expectation (and it didn't help that the Aussies are already loving and hyping them). The way it looks to me, Jeep is releasing this engine in what would otherwise be the normal release timeframe of a new MY. Chevyboy said it at one point -- to paraphrase, and Chevy, correct me if I'm way off base -- look at it from the marketing weenies' standpoint: you have a major mid-cycle refresh amounting to nearly an entirely new truck. Add to that the major news: CRD, and you have the makings of a way to keep people continually interested b/c you keep giving them something new to look at everytime they turn their head.

And, they frustrate a few die hards/enthusiasts/well-informed buyers. That part sucks, but they are getting tons of buzz. Didn't Motor Trend just about offer to have the Summit CRD's babies -- 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 4x4 EcoDiesel vs. 2013 Mercedes-Benz ML350 BlueTec vs. Porsche Cayenne Diesel vs. Volkswagen Touareg TDI - Luxury Diesel SUV Comparison - Motor Trend

To all those who are waiting, I wish you a quick end to this Sisyphean Odyssey.

I'm actually the one who set up the Faircy Boys group buy, so don't need to worry about that part

I was actually curious if you have had the V8 up over any passes or in decent altitude. How does it perform? Any downshifts looking for more power when going up mountain hills? I have been waiting forever for the CRD, since I thought it would perform best in Colorado (altitude), but now I am almost certain I am going to go ahead and get the V8. I can't continue to wait. Just curious about your opinion of the engine using it in altitude.
