I think that is if you are comparing the V6 and CRD. Personally, I would love to have the V8. But since I do mostly city driving, it is a pain to read the mpg gauge showing 15 or less.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

The following phone number....877.847.7166.....was the number to call to get paper manuals for your 2014 Jeep. The number is no longer in service but they tell you to contact your individual Chrysler Company but do not supply a number. Does anyone have a current number they would supply? My '14 Jeep came with an abridged manual that is nowhere as good as the internet sourced pdf, as well as a dvd. Printing the whole pdf does not get me excited. Keeping a laptop in the car doesn't do it either. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I think that's how the song goes. Anyways, I just placed my order for a MY14 JGC OverLand 4x4 with ORAii package, Deep Cherry Red with Black interior.
Price is $42,819 and OTD $45,846.80 (TX)

Not too shabby imho.
Now the wait begins.

Congrats!

I'm not familiar with Texas tax and such, so is the $42,819what you are paying from the portion that would represent Invoice + Destination + Offroad II? ($43736 + $995 + $886). So that would mean you ended up at $42819 on an invoice of $45617 for $2798 (about 6%) below invoice?

Then added in another $3027.8 of tax/title/license/dealer prep?

Almost accurate. The invoice is $43,736 + 263 (oraii) + 995 (destination) for a total invoice of $44,994 to which I'm paying $42,819 + TT&L (tx) for OTD $45,846.80

If you want more details check my post a few pages back where I asked for opinions on the pricing. Also I posted what the V8 hemi was going to cost me if I went that way.

If you need any details about dealer and such you can pm me or larkness. He reffer me to the dealer in the TX group buy thread.

Still hoping to order tomorrow. The May 7th order date and May 13th production date never made sense to me. So maybe we still will be able to order.

As a second thought, am I correct that the Venturi CRD engine is still produced in Europe? In that case, they are currently making the engines there, installing them here, and then shipping the whole thing to Australia. They have to know what their current Australian demand is and exactly how many engines are on the ship to here from Italy. So they know when they will meet the foreign demand. So you would think Jeep has to know when they are going to have enough to release these here. Honesty is the best policy. Production glitches have variability. But if it is an Australian demand problem, as Milous says, they should know the timing and just give us an honest date.

V8 to a CRD isn't a $4k upgrade.

Invoice is:
$1,954 to upgrade from the V6 to the V8
$4,005 to upgrade from the V6 to the CRD

So it's only $2,051 to go from V8 to CRD, not $4k.

To the person going to an Explorer I don't even know how you can compare the two vehicles they are completely different.
Pretty easily. If you take a base V6 JGC Limited with Lux 2 without QL you are at about the same pricepoint at the Explorer Sport.

They both are 4x4 SUV's sporting V6 engines at the same approximate pricepoint. That's where you start at. Features wise, they are about the same (adaptive cruise, ventilated seats, blind spot monitoring, cross path detection, Nav, integrated iPod controls, integrated LCD displays in the instrument cluster, etc...).

Interior, I did prefer the Jeep. Felt more comfortable and gave a more commanding ride (like all the previous Jeeps I've owned). The Ford rode more "Cross-overly", but also handled the corners at high speed with a bit more grace. Downside to that was you could hear the road and feel the bumps more.

Honestly, the two biggest draw backs to the Ford is the size. It's fat, and has really wide and oddly shaped back doors (check em out, they hook down and in and are really long, especially the back doors), and it has a TINY fuel tank. Well, that and the Sync system is sketchy, but so too is the UConnect system (actually, I have yet to drive a vehicle that's equipped with a infotainment system akin to these systems that didn't bug out occasionally).

At any rate, I'm starting to agree with the others, the CRD will not see the day of light until other manufacturers start rolling out their 14's to the lots (Late June-August).

I've driven a Jeep (or been driven around in a Jeep) since I was 7. I'm about as die hard Jeep as you get (having owned and driven everything from a Ford GPW to my current ride (and an assortment of CJs, ZJ's, and WJ's in between). I even stuck by Jeep through the horrid early WK's and all the plastic and fake leather they shoveled into them.

This would be the first time in almost 30 years I would not have a Jeep in my garage.

I did contact the Detroit Free Press a bit ago, and they reached out Jeep about the comment I snagged above, they never got a response from Jeep...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

i just wish i wouldn't have sold my wife on the crd for better mpg over my current ram with the hemi, otherwise i'd just go get a hemi. on the fence between waiting for the jgc crd, mb 350 diesel, soon to be ram diesel or just waiting for the wrangler crd in 2 years.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

just spoke to my dealer, who is a pretty big chrysler, dodge, jeep dealer, and he told me that they're hearing August for order, not june, and unfortunately that's what he's been telling me for months. however, i keep getting let along by jeep one month at a time like a donkey with a carrot in front of it's nose. if jeep would've just said this in the beginning. hate being toyed with

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Quick pricing question...

So.. i talked to a local dealer this morning.. he found at another dealer a 2014 limited with 8.4AN and 20" rims.. ( i don't have a link to it, sorry.. hes going to fax me the window sticker.. no idea why it can't be emailed)

Anyway.. MSRP is $41,675. with FF discount that droped it to $39,661. This is all the nfo i was given.. but doesn't that just look like sticker-FF? I keep hearing about guys getting 1-4% off invoice. I havn't had any dealer offer me anything other than sticker. Am i expecting too much? or am i not understanding the pricing/terminology?

doing a quick add up of page 1 from this thread, it looks like that 41675 is the invoice price, not the msrp, but that was adding it up in my head real quick, and if it is, then the 39661 is a good price
