Same boat for me. I'll sit tight and push my pickup a few more months but my patience is growing thinner now. Really hoping to take delivery by end of summer. (August). Hopefully they'll have the line pumping them out good after a month or 2 of making them for the export market.

My cut line was late July (Family vacation road trip).

I strongly doubt that the CRD will be in my hands by that timeframe at this rate.

It they push it out to August (which means a Oct delivery realistically), I'll probably just skip the JGC completely and either look at the other models out there again, or hold out to see what the Grand Wagoneer has to offer.

No worries.

It maybe faster to have someone in AU or NZ buy one and ship the damn thing to us...

Just to confirm, the VM Motori 3.0 Common Rail diesel coupled with the 8 speed ZF 8HP70 has been shipping overseas for a few months. Correct?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

^ I'm in the same boat, doubtful I'll have a new toy to take on our family camping trips at any point this summer now, so waiting until fall before I get serious again.

Interesting that this latest delay had me looking deeper at the Toureg TDI Lux versus the GC Limited CRD with Lux 2. On paper, they are about $5k apart at "real world" pricing, considering that the VW has adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise, etc., basically the equivalent of the tech group in the Jeep. Yes, the GC has way better off road credentials but the Toureg is available now with dealers that know diesels.

Yeah, they have been building them now since, I think March.

The main differences between the two is the emissions control systems, otherwise it's just trim levels.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Jeep is really coming off as an amateur operation as i watch all of this CRD drama carry on. Nobody knows what is going on at the dealerships, the YouTube reviews showing jeep designers stating the thing would be released now... It's almost comical. I can't recall too many other major automakers playing games like this recently.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Hey guys. After reading the latest Motor Trend magazine reviews, maybe I'll check my local Porsche dealer to see what is available. I am both a Porsche and Jeep owner. Always been happy with the way the Porsche dealers have treated me (car washed no matter what service). Not so with the Jeep dealers (just an oil change discount coupon no matter how expensive the service).

I was going to keep both the Boxster when buying the new Jeep CRD. But really, why just don't have a Cayenne diesel and trade in the Boxster.

Anyway, first world problems.

Perhaps, but I think we are too close. Outside of those following this super closely (us), this is all in the ballpark. Jeep is delivering MY14 JGC in the US, first half of '13. The CRD is shipping if you consider exports. Car dealerships rarely are overly well informed an even if they are they might still mislead you towards what is convenient for them. Remember, this is MY14 in '13. I doubt the big picture looks very bad.

Yah, the CRD is more than we want, and is later than we want. And for those needing something now, whell, the timing is a drag. But horrible? Probably not. You could always buy a V6 or V8 Jeep. Talk about first world problems.

I wonder if one could buy the parts to retrofit it and make it legal.
