Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I assume the emissions systems would be a monstrous pain in the ass, no idea if you could get a waiver for them.

However, your biggest issue would be the price. In Australia, they are quite spendy.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Since we are all disappointed (again)....here's a Forum Fun Fact for those of us wasting valuable time monitoring this thread:

Bookmark this page then edit the bookmark to change the last digits in the address to 999. There is no page 999 but it'll always open to the last page. This saves me from navigating from Page 1 each time. Especially handy on mobile devices.

Should look like this:

Boy, you know you want a CRD bad when you check this forum thread 5 times a day! Hang in there guys!!! I just found out my company reimbursement won't be reduced although my current vehicle (paid off!) is out of compliance so I'm going to put a few bucks in the bank while I wait.

EDIT: Anybody else notice the Jeep Build and Price website is down? Perhaps they are updating it? New build options?

"Service Unavailable - DNS failure
The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later.
Reference #11.ecdc54b8.1367881815.f08affb"

EDIT #2: It's back up now. I'm looking for changes although, as Milous stated, the site can't be trusted.

Did the CRD engine option say "Late Availability" before like it still says now on the BluRay player?

BTW-how would you compare the Murano to the JGC? It was a truck I considered prior to the JGC since I have a current Maxima lease-didn't like the rear visibility and the current design

I've had my Murano since they came out in 2003, but am looking to replace it with a GC CRD (live long and prosper...). It has been a very good vehicle, minor maintenance after 105k miles - one wheel bearing and a ruptured power steering hose. That's it. I want something with better mpg, hence the CRD. I don't know how much the Murano has changed in 10 years, but outward appearances look pretty much the same. It rides nice, handles well and the AWD works reasonably well here in MN. It is the nicest car I've owned up to this point. That said, the GC is just a step up, nicer ride, better off-road capability, true 4WD, and since I am looking at the Summit, you just can't get a Murano with that kind of trim level. And as I've said before, I'd really like to buy American, if I can.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I don't see a price increase on page 1 for the V8 option on the Summit. Looks like the price went up $500. Look at this Summits window sticker here. New 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV - Port Huron Area | 1C4RJFJT3EC197364 at Moran St Clair

Maybe it was mentioned in the forum and I missed it.

And then there would be the "minor" issue of the steering wheel and pedals being on the wrong side for the US market!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

As far as CRD goes, has anyone actually crunched the numbers on how many miles it would take to make up the 4k price difference? and isn't there something special you have to fill every 10k miles? (sorry can't remember) whats the cost on that?

You need to top off the def tank every 10k miles or so, will cost around $30 or so for 8 gals if you DIY.

As far as payback, over the pentastar, it's something around 30 years at 15k/yr. over the hemi however, the payback is much better, a bit over 3 years depending on local fuel prices.

To me it isn't about a break even point comparing the diesel to the v6, the numbers really don't work out well in the U.S. where diesel prices are generally higher. For me, its about the torque, the towing capacity, going a long way without refilling, and yes, better fuel economy. It's also my way of helping the environment, and that isn't free. I plan on keeping the vehicle at least 10 years, and I expect fuel costs to keep going up over time, so maybe the numbers will eventually work out, but that isn't my primary concern. And over 10 years the premium for the diesel is less than $500/yr. Not a big deal for all the benefits. My wife loves her Jetta TDI, and so do I. That all adds up to me just wanting a diesel, so that is what I'm going to get.
