Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

My wife also drives a TDI, sportwagen. Can't argue with 47 mpg or better on long freeway drives.

I'm starting to debate if I should continue to wait for the GC CRD, currently her car is the go to for long hauls, and that is good thing because it gets relegated to a short commute M-F.

I'm afraid if I get the CRD we might not run the TDI as much... But with the GC the choice is between the hemi and the CRD as far as driving enjoyment, and damn that hemi can drink.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I just received a quote and it was also $500 higher, yet the Jeep build it page still shows the older price. Unannounced price increase ??? yikes

Maybe it was mentioned in the forum and I missed it.

Or you could just click the "View first unread" tab at the top of the thread, and it will take you to whatever page your first unread post is on.. May not always be the last page. When I first joined, I used to just leave this site open in Safari, and refresh the page on my iCrap bc I was on here that much. But now-a-days I check in maybe once or twice a day, and sometimes find I'm a couple pages behind. At which point I read up, and log back off..

Also, when I use the link in the email update, it automatically takes me to the first unread post.. Which is another option. Just subscribe to whatever threads you frequent, and JG will let you know when somebody else has said something.

As far as payback, over the pentastar, it's something around 30 years at 15k/yr. over the hemi however, the payback is much better, a bit over 3 years depending on local fuel prices.
Many truck stops have the DEF(Diesel Exhaust Fluid) at the pump. At Pilot Stations it is currently no more than $3 per gallon nationwide. I am at truck stops a lot with the RV. Many pilot stations don't sell B5 or less. So, very often, the diesel fuel they sell can't be used in the JGC CRD, (under the normal maintenance schedule), but the DEF is approved. I have never used the DEF nozzle just the diesel nozzle. I don't know if it shuts off like the diesel pump when it's full. At least you don't have to call hazmat if it overfills. DEF is not a hazardous substance.

Today I stopped by a dealer window shopping and thought the majority of the 2014's had this bronze colored trim inside, even a Laredo E. Is it based on your interior color, like black interior gets the silver trim, and a tan interior gets the bronze trim?
The only 2014 interiors with silver trim are the Summit Black Interior, Overland Indigo Blue/Jeep Brown Interior, and the SRT interior.

2013 all have silver trim.

So it's only $2,051 to go from V8 to CRD, not $4k.

Pretty easily. If you take a base V6 JGC Limited with Lux 2 without QL you are at about the same pricepoint at the Explorer Sport.

They both are 4x4 SUV's sporting V6 engines at the same approximate pricepoint. That's where you start at. Features wise, they are about the same (adaptive cruise, ventilated seats, blind spot monitoring, cross path detection, Nav, integrated iPod controls, integrated LCD displays in the instrument cluster, etc...).

Interior, I did prefer the Jeep. Felt more comfortable and gave a more commanding ride (like all the previous Jeeps I've owned). The Ford rode more "Cross-overly", but also handled the corners at high speed with a bit more grace. Downside to that was you could hear the road and feel the bumps more.

Honestly, the two biggest draw backs to the Ford is the size. It's fat, and has really wide and oddly shaped back doors (check em out, they hook down and in and are really long, especially the back doors), and it has a TINY fuel tank. Well, that and the Sync system is sketchy, but so too is the UConnect system (actually, I have yet to drive a vehicle that's equipped with a infotainment system akin to these systems that didn't bug out occasionally).

At any rate, I'm starting to agree with the others, the CRD will not see the day of light until other manufacturers start rolling out their 14's to the lots (Late June-August).

I've driven a Jeep (or been driven around in a Jeep) since I was 7. I'm about as die hard Jeep as you get (having owned and driven everything from a Ford GPW to my current ride (and an assortment of CJs, ZJ's, and WJ's in between). I even stuck by Jeep through the horrid early WK's and all the plastic and fake leather they shoveled into them.

This would be the first time in almost 30 years I would not have a Jeep in my garage.

I did contact the Detroit Free Press a bit ago, and they reached out Jeep about the comment I snagged above, they never got a response from Jeep...
Have you considered a new 2013 Grand Cherokee V8? I think it's the best SUV ever made. The cheaper cost and $2,000+ in incentives would make up any fuel savings you would expect to get our a CRD, and the V8 is more powerful. I recently negotiated a 2013 vs a 2014, both Overland 4x4 QDII V8s and the price to buy difference would have been $4,000. And that would be a $6,000 difference between a 2013 Overland V8 vs a 2014 Overland CRD. 2013 offers a few important items that the 2014 doesn't have: in dash CD player standard, hard drive, buttons for the heated and ventilated seats and for the heated steering wheel, and flipper glass, and some think it looks better.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Found a picture of a 2014 Black Interior with Zebra wood and white piping and silver trim. I'm guessing Jeep must have changed how they wanted the black interior to look or someone edited the indigo/brown to all black. http://images.dealer.com/autodata/us...051B021012.jpg

I wish Jeep offered the Overland with gloss black and brushed aluminum trim instead of wood. Like the Porsche Cayenne has.

Is it ok to discuss lease rates and residuals in this forum or would that be better suited for the general forum?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Very disappointed, once again I have been told, I cannot order the AEX 18" wheel and RA3 radio option for the Laredo E. What was communicated to me was that there is an issue with the 18" wheels not the RA3 radio. I am about done here. I don't think jeep was really ready for this release. I cannot get an answer on what models have what color, bronze vs silver trim pieces on the interior either.
