The dealer will only get as much money for a vehicle as an uninformed buyer will allow them to get. If you don't do your homework and they detect that you haven't then the dealer will ravish pillage and plunder.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

If that really is true which seems doubtful I will be able to drive mine for 18 months, sell and get a brand new one and not lose any money! Maybe the CRD will actually be available by then!

This is what KBB says on the Fair Market Value for a 4x4 Summit with the HEMI. More in line with what I would expect.

Has anyone bought Sirius subscription on their 14 GC radio. What is the best yearly subscription rate people are getting?

Call the satellite company and tell them you're not going to renew, they'll give you a good rate for a year.

It's my understanding that everyone with a new '14 got one year for free, so I doubt anyone is renewing yet. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's what I thought was standard even since my 2010.

Yes 1 year, but make sure at the end to say you can't afford it and want to cancel and you will get it for much cheaper.

As I wait and wait for the CRD, now other options have had time to percolate. For the few times a year I really need a 4x4 SUV in Minnesota, do I really need a new Grand Cherokee CRD? Why not keep my 2003 Murano (which is still in good shape with only 100k miles) for crappy days or when I need to haul something or tow my small utility trailer, and buy something smaller that is fun to drive and gets really good milage? I still want a diesel so things like Audi, BMW, Mercedes and VW diesel cars and compact SUVs would also fill the bill. The new GLK250 Bluetec which is available now is an interesting option, as is the Audi A3 TDI, and there are more diesels coming yet this year. So the current plan is to go and drive a whole bunch of diesels, which will be fun in itself, and just see what clicks for me. I have no immediate requirement, just a desire, for a new vehicle so I can bide my time and get the best vehicle for my needs.

I have owned the ML and driven the VW lots. Trust me the JEEP will cost less in the long run even if you bought a used ML. Feel free to PM me if you want details. I spent 8 months looking at this and the Jeep has a big advantage when all things are considered. Especially maintenance and future repairs.

Willx, good to hear. Curious what advantages you think Jeep has on maintenance, is it because its domestic manufacturer? If you'd rather do PM hit me up there.
