I will post some simple items and you guys can feel free to ask questions.
Mercedes run full synthetic and you must use their specific blend not just any old Diesel Syn. You can buy a Mobil 1 version of their oil but it has to have their rating.
You must do a full tranny service every 40,000 miles.... I don't know of any modern tranny that goes through fluid like that.
Ask a Dodge guy who still services the 07,08 Merc Diesel how many oil leaks they get. Mine was an 09 and the newer motor etc and I had tranny and engine oil leaks every year ( I thought it was because of the heavy towing I do but the dodge guys tell me the old ones leaked lots)..... maybe this is why you need to service the tranny so often
There were tons of other little issues but if I stick just the regular stuff Google their A, B, C, D service system. The car tells you what service you have to do and the latest revision units the Dealer needs to reset the computer using a special tool to make sure you did the service (on my ML you held a few buttons on the dash during start up to clear the message if I got it serviced at private shop to try and save money).
Lastly about the service schedule... I DARE you to try and figure out what services are actually due with an A B C or D service. It is not clear at all and I got widely different versions of what I needed to do at each visit.
Yes you get to change your oil on a Mercedes at extended intervals BUT each visit is going to cost a lot. "A" is supposed to be an oil change only but do you think my vehicle wanted only an oil change in the last year or 30,000 miles noooooo.... my average visit was always around $600.00, no brakes no extra repairs just maintenance.
The first 2 years are OK.... it gets expensive after that.
So I don't go on forever.... VW Audi is a fair bit cheaper but the schedule is definitely higher than Dodge. BMW costs the same as the Mercedes (from my X5 Diesel buddy's perspective when we used to get together and complain about service costs)
