It was determined months ago that the CRD will be the only 2014 GC to get flipper glass... Front and rear!!

That's the real reason for the delay!

I think it is worse than that, even. I think they "include" the initial services so you don't pay attention to just how much of an arm and a leg they charge. Not only that, but the early maint. is just cheap stuff like oil changes. The more expensive services show up when you are out of that honeymoon phase.

If you ever try to haul something that won't quite fit inside, the flipper glass can come in quite handy. Trying to tie the hatch shut is a pita and not very secure.

Alas, poor flipper glass (and front ELSD) we'll miss you.

It is (or should be) a utility vehicle first ... if it wants to be called a Jeep. Just like the country in general, people want to sissify the Jeep brand.

My MY14 JGC will have a flipper... just wait until that free-serviced BMW cuts me off. :-)

Trolls will be trolls man.

That said, I believe I speak for the majority of folks when I say, "Thank you for posting your experiences and opinions on other brands."

An echo chamber is not a good thing, creates a feedback loop and nothing good comes of it. There's nothing wrong with discussing features, functions, offerings or the ilk from other manufacturers. The better educated someone is as a buyer, the more likely, they will find the ride they enjoy.

Just because someone does not pick the Jeep, does not mean they are not a Jeep enthusiast, nor does it disqualify them from having an opinion on Jeeps. Likewise, if someone does own a Jeep (or is looking at one), it should not dictate that they cannot look at/review other brands and what they offer without being attacked.

As I said before, there's a lot of competition out there for the role that the Grand fills, it all comes down to how will you use it, how soon do you need it, does it meet your requirements (features/functions/MPG), and of course, price.

Dude, the only troll who has been on this forum the entire time I have been a luker/member has been you. I don't think you've offered up any decent advice or insight on anything. Your comebacks are awful and usually people just decide to ignore you until you blast someone else.

If you're not going to help someone who is worrying about Ordering and Pricing information in this thread, why even post?

If someone else is trying to give insight on their experiences with another brand be it good or bad, if it is helping someone else decide on a Jeep or not, I believe it is helpful.

I apologize to everyone else for continuing the off-topic nature of the thread, but it is getting ridiculous. Every one of CHALLENGER's posts is like a train wreck. Awful, but I couldn't look away...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

For those awaiting production, you might find this article interesting.

AutoBlog

Most domestic automaker assembly plants traditionally take a couple of weeks off during the summer. The shutdowns give each plant time for much needed repairs and maintenance, and in some cases, help better align production with demand. Not this year, though, as demand for many models is outstripping what Ford, Chrysler and General Motors plants can produce.

Ford has announced that it will shorten its annual summer shutdown for most North American plants from two weeks to one. The shorter shutdown will increase the carmaker's annual North American production by 40,000 units on top of the 200,000 extra units that it was already planning to produce this year versus last. Automotive News reports that Ford produced 2.8 million vehicles on this continent in 2012, and that output this year has already increased 13 percent through April.

Chrysler, meanwhile, is also operating at full tilt and plans to run some plants through the summer with no shutdown at all. Those not getting a break include Jefferson North where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are assembled, Toledo North that will assemble the new Cherokee, and Conner Avenue, home of SRT Viper production. Other assembly plants will be down for a single week, while all of Chrysler's engine and transmission plants except one in Indiana will continue operating with no shutdown this summer.

Lastly, GM is keeping its cards closer to its chest. The automaker declined to comment to Automotive News about its summer production plans, instead saying that the company "does things a bit differently" now compared to the past, tying plant shutdowns to model life cycles and market demand rather than traditional annual timetables.
