Will stick around and troll cuz I want to read about all the folks I have followed here who have been waiingt for months. Hope you don't mind if I pipe up once in a white.
Good on ya man, I purchased mine used too originally (ML Bluetec).... Does the used BMW still come with the maintenance package? One & two year olds are the way to go with those things as we can see by the price (they don't discount much from list on the original sale)

On the lurking....Absolutely, just try not to rub it in our faces too much that you are oil burning and we can't. Still waiting on the CRD myself. I have taken the 35d for a spin, it is an elegant powerhouse.

I can't tell you how the Jeep drives in comparison BECAUSE I CAN'T DRIVE ONE . First thing I am doing though is changing the Goodyear Fortera to Michelin Latitude HP so I can get the meat back to the road surface more like the Euros (forteras blur the steering and are narrow tread for their beam) I believe you have a 9 inch wide rim though so unless I Change rims I won't get that super mean stance that thing has.

Enjoy!

Yes on the maintenance plan. It was an exec car built in July and first registered in Sept 2012. A few more days and it would have been a 2013. I get the remainder of all the original 4/50 warranty and services, including the maintenance, and the onstar equivalent. BMW has one year Sirius included with new cars so I get that at no charge til Sept this year.

I totally agree about buying recent cars from the german manufacturers. I have bought several low mileage BMWs over the years and it's the way to go from finance perspective. The X5 share garage space with 07 650i coupe with 6 speed. Bought it as 2 year lease return with 13k miles. Gave 40k for that one and sticker was 87k. The stick probably made it unsellable, but to me it was a plus. That was four years ago and no regrets.

I'm done, back to Jeeps.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

A lot of rumors about CRD production sliding to the 4th quarter. I noticed Milous hasn't changed the "late June" availability on page 1 of this thread, so I'm staying optimistic.

It would be real tough for me to have to wait till the end of the year. The problem is there is absolutely nothing else that tickles my fancy. BMW and Mercedes aren't really my cup of tea, the new 4Runner has questionable looks, and a Wrangler is a little too rustic. Not to mention that if I do settle, six months from now, whenever I see a CRD GC on the road, I'll think to myself that I made a big mistake. As much as it pains me to say, I have no choice but to wait...

^ This. I will NOT be impatient and then regretful.

After lengthily discussions with People who know more than I, I learned I need to wait until the end of June to get the whole story. These people say that there are many things going on in the background but that there is a very good chance the firm info will be on the table in the next 30 days.

I keep driving around in a 2014 Hemi that makes me want the CRD even more so now I am hoping that these people are correct.

Count me in for waiting until the end June to get the final story.

In the mean time I stopped to look at VW Touareg. No test drive but looked on Sunday when dealer is closed. 53k sticker for Lux version was more than Limited GC. Looked nice inside, had saddle brown interoir but didn't see any receiver for towing on those things.

Toureg is good for 7400 lbs. the only downsides are you need an adapter for us style trailer plugs and the safely chain loops are really thick, to the point that you may need to change out the ends of your safety chains.

You only need to use an adapter for trailers with LED lights *sometimes*. Otherwise, it is still a standard 7 PIN.

You will need to play the Tongue weight game though as they say it is rated for only 660 but sometimes they will say 740 and no one agrees whether they allow load distribution hitches.

I like the Hemi, and it is a much nicer drive than the Durango with the 5 Speed and IMO it feels like it has more power.

But comparing it to Driving and towing with a ML320 Bluetec it just isn't the same... You lean into the throttle on that Diesel and it feels like there is endless power right from the line (my Bluetec was only 210 Horse and 400 Foot Pounds) The saying goes "I twist therfore I tow" and those Foot Pounds of torque are at thier peak and very flat from 2000 RPM in the Diesels and in the HEMI they peak at 4250RPM and are less flat.

Since the Jeep is 240 Horse and 420 Foot Pounds as well as better on fuel than my old ML I am expecting a lot.... I very much miss driving my Diesel

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Not sure if this has been posted regarding the new Maserati SUV being built based on the Grand Cherokee platform; I found it interesting: "Until recently, it was rumored that the Levante would be built at Chrysler’s Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit alongside the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but due to the huge demand for the Jeep SUV, this isn’t a possibility. Instead, it will be produced in Italy."
