Robots don't "put the car together" nor do computers send parts to the line.

If the sunroof install is skipped, the hole will still be in the roof.

I have been to two automobile assembly lines (not Jeep). There are robots on the line, and I have been shown how the parts flow to the line is controlled by computer.

The roof does not come with a hole in it, unless someone (computer or person) orders the hole, because Jeeps are still being built without Sunroofs.

Is Jeep till using mid 20th century technology?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Computers make suggestions. People feed the line.. Hey Marlon, come in tomorrow and ONLY do what the computer tells you, and see how long you can go before you shut the line down.

As the lil' third of the Big3, unfortunately we're still using outdated processes.

Seriously though man, I understand what you want, but we can not build the car that way until its offered that way. If the package is broken up, we'd have no problem building it however you want. And however the next guy wants. And so on.. But when consumers start dictating what they want and don't want, then the price of each 'feature' gets driven up, because instead of being able to order xxx,xxx number of sunroofs a year, we end with less, which hurts negotiating power with suppliers..

I'm sure you know that stuff is so cheap at Walmart, not just bc it comes from undeveloped countries.. But bc they buy so much. Quantity affects price. Buy less, pay more.

Like I said, more people prefer HAVING a sunroof than not.. Many never use it and keep the shade closed. But third-party studies have showed its popularity, and that's why it's overused these days.

As a guy who has nothing to do with JNAP or Jeep at all.... I can say that the forced package content is one of the lowest in the industry. Buy Audi / VW or Mercedes or even Honda... Everything is package content. You can't even decide you want a sunroof on an ML it just comes with it.

I would just like to know how my 24k fusion can come with a auto dimming rear view mirror but my wife's 36k jeep doesn't. How much cost does it really add?

I wish they would've had more tire selections other then the Goodyear fortera which isn't the greatest for road feel etc and they have a really narrow profile for a 20 inch tire.

Don't get me wrong, it's not all about costs on our end. In cases such as yours, it's about squeezing more out on your end.. Certain things AREN'T offered in a trim package, to get you to consider an upgrade to a higher trim.

Jeep left A LOT of money on the table with the '11-13s. Limited wasnt attractive enough to steal Laredo sales.. There wasnt enough difference to justify the upsell for most.. Now, the Laredo will still sell good, as a base model, but most who are looking at the '14 probably want the Limited (and above) features. Things that aren't offered on the Laredo.

Another case of the 'ol bait and switch. Or as Bruce Willis would say, "the Kansas City Shuffle!"

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Well, can I order my 2014 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk II Ecodiesel in blood orange with the blacked-out look as previously hinted at at MOAB with a couple carry-over parts from the 2013s? I'd like the New Saddle/Black interior and add back in the flipper glass. I'm sure that wouldn't be too hard to do. I'm sure you guys still have those parts laying around. I would really appreciate it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

The line would go down in about a half hour.

(give or take 5 minutes)

And if I take the line down, that lowers my profit sharing check and increases the cost of you guys's Jeeps. Now I'm sure none of us want that, right?

For you diesel, I'll do my best to make that happen..

Is there anything else we can do for you, sir?

How about free expedited priority shipping through Reliable/Allied, straight to your door? That way your orange Jeep can ride in an orange climate controlled truck!
