I'm not too disappointed because all-in-all it was about getting the new MY2014. I decided on that before CRD was confirmed, then I thought "WOAH COOL!...now I want the diesel". The dream stayed alive for a while but I had to stay under $40k. Plus, I really don't need fancy headlights, fancy wipers, a butt fan, and a lazy man's steering column motor (especially not for over 2-grand); those traffic sensing auto high-beams would've been awesome though.

I hope everyone enjoys their GCs and I'll be sure to check back here in a while to read all the CRD stories and see what I'm missing out on. Oh well, I'll see ya on the trail none the less...I'll be the guy with the extra gas cans on the roof-rack.
Hey I like lazy man features....

But really this is the same as the HEMI vs V6 conversation. Get what you need and want it is still an impressive vehicle and that includes how one also wishes to equip their options.

Congrats on the purchase!

Yup thats what I was thinking too. I'm gonna ask my dealer to write deal up when I order specifying the affiliate pricing.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Hey fellas, call your dealers and find out if you can place your CRD orders!

I hope my hopes aren't up over a mistake, but have some promising information...

I've had my "vehicle request" placed with the overseas military car sales folks for the past month. They have their own website to track orders, which has always been a blank shell for me because the CRD is not available. Today, I randomly checked and saw a "factory order number" has been assigned to my CRD build. The dealer wrote the following in response to my inquiry (I fully realize this could be a mistake, but seems unlikely):

"Yep – there is an FO# which means that your vehicle has started build! Exciting news indeed! We anticipated 10th June for the Diesel to become available but obviously they swung it a few days earlier.

Next step is that we’ll get a VIN# hopefully inside of around 3-4 weeks and of course then the Jeep will begin to ship. I haven’t heard of a VONS so that’s news to me – but of course you can track on our website or email me anytime for an update.

Once the VIN# shows in the system we will also have a build date and we’ll have a clear idea of when the vehicle will finish manufacture."

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Things really do seem to be pointing to ordering opening up this month. Between the order bank opening delay from 6/4 to 6/11 to the constant flow of rumors about all the engines just waiting, it seems promising for a production launch in June. I hope so for all you guys who had the patience to wait!

As for me, I'm still loving my V8. In 3 years, when my lease is up, I may want a diesel again so hopefully Jeep will have it all nice and sorted by then.

In 3 years we'll be seeing the all new Grand Cherokee, if not before. I too will be checking out the diesel or a V8. I like the mileage of my V6, but when the next full re-design rolls out I'm going to opt for a bigger engine.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

This just in; as some of you may know, SRT orders are currently being held up due to an "issue" with the 29L package.. Which of course is the code for the standard powertrain. Specifically this ordering restriction/hold is in reference to the transmission.

Now - the question is, can anybody guess why?

Hint: We ARE low on tranny's, but that's not why the newer SRT orders are being hung up. And my quotes around the word issue ARE significant.

Well, lets see... same 8HP70 trans as the 5.7 and CRD ... so, are they reserving some of the current stock of tranny's to ramp up CRD production???

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Well boys I just spoke with my dealer (who is doing the Colorado Group buy) and he says ordering for CRD is probably opening up next week. However, he did say it could be months before delivery, and whose order gets built first is going to be a crap shoot.

So now I gotta figure out if I want to cancel my HEMI order (which should arrive in the next 2 weeks -- has been getting backed up a bit at the plant), or transfer my deposit and go with the CRD. I am sort of thinking this is a sign I should have waited for the CRD all along...

This is why I leave Milous to do the whole tidbit game thingy. I suck at it. This was too easy.

Anyway, you're correct sir... Thanks for playing.
