If I have run on sentences and such, I'm blaming it on my hangover.
Where are you reading that V8 sales have rocketed? If it's just the site here that's a very small group and really not enough to say Jeep has screwed itself because everybody is going elsewhere. Again that's just here on the site and really that's not many people.

I said V8 sales have gone up in Jeep "rocketed" is a general term that I used to broadly, my apologies. I also, in again a general term not restricted to this site said, "people have gave up on the diesel". Meaning there is life outside of this site. Sorry for the implication that I solely base everything I say based on this website.

US GLK250BT models do not have any form of spare tire--just runflats.

My 2009 ML320 Bluetec was the exact same... never had an issue with it, actually nice, nil puncture once and the dash tells you which tire and you just drive it to go get fixed. Just not every shop is any good at changing run flats.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

It just occurred to me that there are many on this forum waiting for the CRD that have owned other diesels. It seems the JGC CRD is attracting a lot of attention as a lower cost, more offroad capable option. This forum is a sample of the rest of the non-forum world. Jeep made a brilliant move with the concept of the CRD. The timing is perfect....North America is finally ready and diesels are now "refined" enough for us. Well, they have been for years but we as a populace are too set in our ways to realize it.

So, the market is there. The time is right....and Jeep is failing horribly at delivering, Thankfully other options are quickly coming available. The competition is stepping up. Another model year and diesel options will exist in many more types of vehicles.

I hope the Chevy Cruzer does well. The Mazda6 is slated for diesel power also. Its getting interesting. These vehicles are much more versatile and powerful than hybrids. We'll see soon enough.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I have always loved the 3.0 Diesels (at least since the Urea models). Frankly when they came out with the Urea version, they all got more powerful and efficent. I have a feeling they were under tuning due to emission before.

I don't care what the numbers say for 0-60, the diesel always felt faster to me. I think it is when you have more people in the care or cargo, that extra Torque just twists!

I honestly say I have trouble even thinking about driving a Gas SUV at this point. But becasue of Jeep not communicating that is the decision, wait for something that actually does not have a order date or get something else that is presently available elsewhere..... Tough call, really love the Jeep

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I love the idea of popping a "devil" chip in when you want the thing to run like a bat out of hell and mileage/emissions be damned and then popping in the "angel" chip when you are going on a long trip and want good mileage and a green engine. If I had my way I would have a switch under the dash that allowed me to select the mood of the day.

Bluespark has a very similar "switch" to what you speak of. The Aussies are already running it on their CRDs. In my world I would say 30-40% of the diesels I see are running some kind of programming change. Most of them are crazy horsepower which I am not sure is great but the people who run the more moderate gains say they get better mileage and I have seena few Duramax, Powerstroke and Cummins chipped with 160,000 miles, they seem to be fine.

Not sure whether the Bluespark folks are going to make something for the EcoDiesel or not but I would be interested in a slight bump, say to 260 Horse and 450 Foot Pounds.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Since I intend to have my new toy for around a decade I'm sure someone will come up with what I'm looking for eventually. I'd want that slight bump to be the normal day to day but I would still want a "devil" chip that would turn it into a monster... Every now and again my hooligan side needs to be released.

The Bluespark in thier upper model has a multimode setting between EcoGreen super Angel and Devil Grade Tire Destroyer.... Read Thread

Anyone tuned a CRD yet?

Yoda apparently went on a super excursion with his trailer and has some really great results. There are a number of Aussies that are on the band wagon apparently. Setting 9 I guess is the evil one!

Anyway I dont think the Urea thing will mater much but I would love to be able to run a regular BUMP in performance and for special purpose select the dumb@ss setting occations for fun.

Apparently it is 10 minutes to remove for a pre-service visit.

Ya, that is over 500 Foot Pounds. Not sure I would want to run it at that every day. Only days I was racing a HEMI
