As for the Durango, I'm rather confused why that one isn't rolling with a diesel option myself. I'd jump at one of those personally.
The 300 IS getting the 3.0 EcoDiesel was the most up to date information the Rep I spoke to said.

It is certainly a possibility but the conversation I had heard was for possibility of a 2.8 Diesel. I am not sure why they had not said the 3.0 but nothing was confirmed

I am still buying the car.
I am not sure what that guy was testing?

It is good enough for the RAM and the HEMI which has way higher tow ratings plus it is used in the SRT which is way more Torque and Horsepower.... and those guy USE that torque.

Personally and the risk of repeating myself that transmission and the background it comes from is half the reason I am here.

If I get in a pinch and I need to get a gas engine I would still get the Jeep because it is still mated to that bad boy. GM is still running their outdated 6 speed in their trucks and a huge reason I ruled them out. Even Mercedes and their 7 speed is getting long in the tooth compared to the ZF8s.

That enough encouragement?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

A quick side-track question here. I searched other threads but didn't find anything so I thought I'd post it here.

I've never had leather seats in a vehicle, let alone black leather. I currently have the dark gray cloth seats and the dark gray dash. How uncomfortably hot does black leather make a vehicle as compared to a leather of another color (brown/saddle/light frost beige) or even the plasticky dash I have now. Keep in mind I live in Minnesota where we really only have summer 4 months out of the year. It can get pretty hot sometimes but nothing like Arizona or Texas for any long stretches.

I hope the one I order will come with cooled/vented seats but I'm not sure if it will be offered. I am guessing that it will come with black leather based on the test version earlier this year (trailhawk II).

Any other pros/cons about black leather would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I find the color only affects it when you first get in. Everything is a little cooler than Black. Problem with leather is the seal your butt and back make in the seats. Usually with CDJ trucks you only need to go up one step from the basic with leather to get vented seats and after having them I would never go back.

But as noted, sitting comfort isn't so affected by leather color but when you first get in Black can be almost burning on the back of the legs in shorts for a few seconds. Brown is better, light colors are great except they get dirty fast so I don't usually go that way. Since the purpose of the trail hawk is to get dirty not sure I would go with a light color even to save my butt.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I have black leather seats in my Acura... Yes, on a hot summer day they are a little toasty when you first get in but once you cool the car down they are no different than any other color. On my TL key fob if I hold down the unlock button then all the windows go down and the sun roof opens up... I do this on hot days as I am walking toward the car and by the time I get there it has vented a significant portion of the stored heat in the car.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the input.
As you can tell I'm trying to side-track myself from being impatient about the diesel info.

Now we can get back and complain about the updated grill, the lack of flipper glass, and the debate about the sunroof?

Hahaha. I like the grill (someone steps in and slaps me here)

I actually haven't tried this on the new Jeep but the older ones you could do as Chivvalry suggests and hold the unlock and it will roll the windows down. I do it on my Durango a fair bit.

I'm wondering if the Trailhawk II will come with black leather and alcantara suede inserts like the 13? If so then just the leather part will be hot and the suede will be, yup you, guessed it cooler.

It might not be Chrysler. My father-in-law was born in Turin. He used to joke with me that Italians are always a day late and a dollar short.

Lol,

That would be true if Marlon didn't have the engines sitting there.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Ok, so since someone got me all interested in the transmission information I started on my usual digression down the long dark paths of the internet. Anyway, got reading on ZF's actual product pages and really the gear set and shift design capabilities are just super cool.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG | 8-speed-automatic transmission

Anyone who is interested in what this Tranny is all about should read this. The Tranny that comes with the 3.6 is based in the same area but made by Chrysler instead in case anyone got confused.

I personally dislike black interiors, both because they absorb the summer sun's heat a lot and black interiors also show the dirt a lot more in my experience...even with my saddle/black interior, I have to clean the interior twice as often as I did with lighter shades of trim in previous vehicles. I also find that black interiors make the vehicle seem smaller. But this preference is a very subjective thing...

Unfortunately, at the trim level I would prefer to buy (Summit) the only choices I would have right now are dark brown and black. Maybe in a few years when it's time for the next one, there will be something more to my liking.
