Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

The long term durability of a tranny is all about internal efficiency and heat management. Diesels kill trannys by applying higher torques at lower RPMs. This creates heat. Towing is the worst case scenario.

The SRT won't tax the tranny anyore than the CRD. If the rear axle ratio was lowered on the CRD, even more stress would occur. The SRT makes its peak torque at a higher RPM and won't be operated in that range continueously....the CRD will operate near its peak torque rpm much more often....but only apply that torque when your foot or load demands it.

I suspect, due to the fact that the 3.0 is not a low rpm design and the rear axle ratio isnt lower than the hemi, the tranny should not fail prematurely unless you tow heavy.

You should read about ZF. Some of their trannys are rated for higher Diesel torque than gas. They are all about efficiency

Check out the site I posted.

I also find that black interiors make the vehicle seem smaller. But this preference is a very subjective thing...

Unfortunately, at the trim level I would prefer to buy (Summit) the only choices I would have right now are dark brown and black. Maybe in a few years when it's time for the next one, there will be something more to my liking.
I have had black and beige interiors in Florida. Regardless of the interior or exterior color it is hot enough inside to bake a cake when the car is in the sun. The black interior looked dirty more often but was immune to most permanent stains. The Beige interior looked cleaner generally, my dog's hair was invisible but there are visible stains that won't go away. Those stains would be invisible in a black interior. If you want to get the Golden Retriever hair out of a beige interior it is almost impossible because you can't see the hair.

Also, for me, a black interior looks more formal.

I switched my order from a Beige interior to a black one. I have thought a lot about this. I have seen all the interiors at this point.

Voluntary recall will offer inspection and if required, some reinforcement to help curtail damage during low-speed collisions, according to articles floating around...

The fix will be as inexpensive as they can get away with.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I was in the middle of that Toyota Peddle Recall.... OK here is a Sawzall and a guide now carefully trim the bottom of the peddle.... Oh we have more information, throw the Mats in the trunk too.... Oh we have more information recall again and do these 7 checks.

I am sure it won't be pretty any which way.

Reportedly, they are going to install trailer hitch receivers to provide additional "meat" to the back end of the vehicles. That was the indication in the financial news piece on GMA this morning.

Yes, seen the dealer note. There are some specifics based on whether there is an original or aftermarket hitch in place and certain different procedures based on year but that would be generally correct.

Snooka is on a distinguished road
Even if you never tow anything, a hitch is always a good idea for exactly that reason. Been spared some costly repairs more than once, the other people's vehicle on the other hand...
