Yeah they had Chevy as one in:

"Many automakers have signed on but not all. Several revealed themselves Monday at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. The most significant non-signers include Ford/Lincoln, whose Sync system ironically was the first to make heavy use of connected smartphones, Toyota/Lexus, and Chrysler. Those pledged to Siri Eyes Free are:

Acura
BMW
Chevrolet
Ferrari
Honda
Hyundai
Infiniti
Jaguar
Kia
Opel (Europe)
Mercedes-Benz
Nissan
Volvo"

Wow, will need to Hammer the GM Tree and see what they are doing.

Kinda surprised to see Mercedes on there... they still refuse to support touch screens so it will be interesting for them to support it but I will ask them as well.

Thanks for the info Dave,

My question is how much do customers normally pay for new Jeeps Grand Cherokees in comparison to the MSRP ticket price? I know that a lot of people look at the invoice as the lowest price a dealer will go to sell a car for which is not always true because there are also dealer incentives, rebates, holdbacks etc that still make a vehicle profitable even when sold at invoice price (depending on the manufacturer, vehicle model etc). I was curious in how that works with new Jeeps models because I may be looking for one shortly. So for instance the MSRP for a 2014 WK2 Limited is listed at $37,795 MRSP and an invoice price of $36,192 online so what price point would a majority of people actually pay when purchasing the vehicle?

A universal rule of thumb that I've heard was going for 3% above invoice was a pretty solid deal, but can we go lower?! lol
When I ordered my 2014 Summit back in January, I got my dealer to agree to invoice minus dealer holdback plus any incentives that might come out. Turns out I received a $500 Bonus Cash certificate in the mail which was also applied to the deal at delivery. And I know the dealer still made enough money to keep the lights on. I would imagine now that every dealer has 2014's galore, there are even better deals to be made.

Thanks for the info Dave,
I'm not sure of the extent of the integration or how it'll be implemented. But my sense is that it will do some sort of AirPlay mirroring for particular applications. I'm not sure if there will be any touchscreen interactions because the name of the program is Siri in the car, which is also called Siri eyes free. Siri doesn't use touch. It's supposed to be an entirely new way of interacting with the iPhone that doesn't depend on touch.

Anyway, if you're interested in apple's push into the car, listen to or read Horace Dediu at asymco.com when he talks or writes about cars. I'll post some relevant links in an appropriate thread.

The eyes free Siri is different than the iOS in the car coming out next year. Seems like touch is heavily integrated...home button and all. Do a google search of it and you'll see some screenshots of it

I don't see how Mercedes could be on board then. They don't even have touch screens in any of their products?

The BMW guy I know says it is just a directly like from the button on the steering wheel to the Siri voice commands but that they are supporting the Samsung S voice etc too.

Maybe you guys should start another thread on this. It is an interesting discussion.

So, i would like to know the technical reason why selec-speed is not included on a MY14 with a CRD and ORAII?

Willx, i am talking about the SELEC-SPEED, are you possibly thinking of the SELEC-TERRAIN instead?
Selec-terrain is the dial in the centre where you select snow, sand, mud, rock, auto, low range 4WD (button) and downhill descent (button).

Selec-speed is the crawl control (uphill ascent control) which allows the car to drive up steep inclines without the driver touching the accelerator pedal and the driver can control the speed in 1MPH (or 1KM/H) with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Apparently it is only added if optioned with a V8 and ORAII (off road adventure 2).

I would like to know for sure if this is added with a CRD and ORAII.

If not, Milous or someone else in the know, what is the reason it isn't added with the CRD?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Heard that Jefferson plant was shutting down for two weeks on Monday for retooling. Assuming this is correct... I am sitting in D1 status now, does that mean I can expect no change in my status for those two weeks?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Is the date for the rear DVD system still 7/21? Also will this option be on the Jeeps and on lots around that time or is this when the dealers can oreder that option and have to wait 6weeks for delivery?

Is this confirmed? Is it a good source?

Hopefully, this is not bad news for you. However, it could be good news for the CRD folks. After several rounds of being told the week before that Christmas has been delayed another month or two, it would be like Christmas in July.
