Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Does anyone know if order banks are still open for an Overland model? I'm hoping to put a deposit down tomorrow, but not exactly sure if they will be able to order this go around or will have to way until next order bank opens.

I've also heard that some of these extended warranty companies have gone belly up, then you're left with a worthless warranty. What would you do? Doc fees aren't a big issue as they are limited by state statute in MN to a reasonable amount.
I saved this web page from posts several months ago. CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online.
Supposedly, they sell actual Chrysler extended warranties at a discount.

Sadly, my understanding is that Chrysler does NOT warranty it's diesels for a lifetime. I believe that the warranty expires at 100,000 miles and some number of limited years.

So your question is; which is worth more a $750 additional discount or an after market limited powertrain warranty from a company that might not be stable. Good question.

I bought an extended warranty once. The company went bankrupt, and i was stuck with the cost of rebuilding a transmission. So I paid twice. Once for the warranty and once for the transmission.

I got a lifetime warranty from my dealer for 2500.00 ,100.00 deductible. That Ziegler discount is not a discount on that warranty.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

In your case I'd take the $750 and apply it toward a Chrysler extended warranty.

Interesting thought - or just keep the $750 and take my chances. I've never had a major car repair in 40 years of car ownership. The one extended warranty I did purchase was never used. Most extended warranties, whether you get it for your car or your TV, are big profit makers for the seller of the warranty. I guess it all boils down to how confident you are in the quality of the vehicle or item it is that you are purchasing and how long you plan on keeping it. Historically, Jeep's repair record has been average at best, but there seems to be evidence that it has improved recently.

They are a big profit maker for the dealer and they are useless until your 2014 air suspension fails off warranty or your uconnect with nav fails off warranty or some other expensive part fails off the warranty, then that 100.00 deductible won't seems so stupid will it????

On another make and model car, I actually had a dealer pay down my interest rate (he paid extra for my rate to drop) on the entire car so that my extended warranty actually only cost me about half of what it would have otherwise. This convinced me to buy the extended warranty. His incentive was that he made the profit on the warranty and he was then assured that I would do all my repair work through him.

I believe that the price of factory warranties is negotiable and this is a negotiating point. When a warranty expires, you can get the work done anywhere. However, if you are still under warranty the dealer knows that they are going to get the business. The maintenance shop is a big money maker for these guys.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I bought my Lifetime MaxCare extended service contract from Ziegler...the price that 'Commando posted for the $100 deductible is what I paid. Historically, I have not embraced these things, but with all the expensive technology and "stuff" in the JGC combined with my increased driving mileage and need to keep the car for much longer than the factory warranty, it was an easier choice this time around. The loaner/rental vehicle that comes with it during the factory warranty period is a nice feature, too, since so many dealers no longer provide that benefit. And since this is a Chrysler product, not a third-party contract that could go "poof in the night", I'm comfortable it will be there if I need it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Waiting to order the diesel has been excruciating. Though, I have gained a great deal of knowledge because of that wait. One thing I have learned is not to buy a car in the state of Florida. The average doc fee here is $600, maximum in the country. Under state law, they say, they can't reduce their stated doc fee. Also, state law also says you may not compete with discounted Extended Warranty Plans. So again you must buy your Mopar Vehicle Protection Plan Outside of the state, if you want to pay less than the maximum.

Had I been able to order a car in March, I would have likely overlooked the fact I was getting screwed.
