Wow, that surprises me... I had an opportunity to test drive one at an exclusive showing and I have to say I 100% agree with Car and Driver's positions on it. Including the new unproven platform being a major issue, the two following statements rang true for me behind the wheel of the now underpowered AWD,

Car and Driver August

"The carry-over six-speed automatic isnít great. Whether in Sport mode or through the steering-wheel-mounted paddles, shifts arenít as quick as those executed by state-of-the-art seven- or eight-speed automatics offered by German competitors"

"So when Acura introduced a redesigned but less powerful MDX, we were puzzled. Then it said the three-row SUV would, for the first time, be available in a dumbed-down, front-wheel-drive model. The whole thing sounded like The Expendables 3 rewritten as a Katherine Heigl romantic comedy."

I will agree it was definetly quieter, but I put the MDX with the 2014 Sierra Pickups... A full redesign vehicle that somehow brought back a bunch of old technology that nobody was interested in.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

The new Acura RDX on the other hand is a nice little buggy... not for me under any circumstances and definitely not a competitor to the JGC but still a nice change to the old RDX.

Yes I had seen one of those Monday. Looked nice, didn't have time to drive it, was on a mission!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I've read on the forums that a lifetime warranty won't be offered on the diesel, but looking at the Ziegler website, it seems to offer a lifetime warranty on the 2014 JGC diesel. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a difference between what Ziegler offers and what's offered through Jeep directly? Is it a glitch in the Ziegler website and they won't actually sell it to you when you come to order?

Thanks!

Check your info, when I put in all the correct info checking off Diesel and AWD The maximum it shows is 7 years...

Thanks for your email. I just emailed you the price for the 8 year 120,000 miles. Chrysler's Mopar Vehicle Protection only offers it with a $100 deductible, this is why you did not see it. The price is the same for gas or diesel. We can and do sell to people who live in Florida. Bob.

The MDX is down in power (10 hp) but actually faster 0-60 and torque is more. They dropped about 300 lbs from the car overall and fuel economy is up significantly (old model 16 mpg city/21 mpg hwy vs 18/27 in 2014). I agree on the 6 speed being behind the times but it felt fine in its shifts to me. Especially over the clunky 8 speed in the Grand Cherokee. We really disliked the shifter in the Grand Cherokee as well. Honda generally is behind with transmission gears and that is a bit annoying. The last thing I'd say about the MDX is that it's underpowered.

When you get it, enjoy your Honda.

Driven many 2014 JGC and thousands of miles now. I have never had a V6 or V8 clunk or shift poorly for me. I did have the MDX laggy shift in the first mile of driving which made it feel slow to me.

I do wish you well with your MDX, I just didn't find it the thrill that others did and it did not meet my towing capacity requirements.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

At long last, I'm getting ready to e-mail dealers for price quotes. Would you guys recommend negotiating price first, and then mentioning that I have an affiliate discount code (to get an additional 1-2% off)? Or mention the affiliate number up front to make the negotiations easier/smoother?
