The Tax gets paid along with the Registration fees. The county where you live sets the tax rate. If I bought a car in DC with the same doc fee and same % below invoice as I am getting here. The total would be exact to the penny as I am paying here in Florida.

In Pennsylvania you have a very cool tool for calculating fees(NOT A PA government website):

The PA DMV FEE CALCULATOR

Depending on your city or county your tax rate varies.
All I found was this:

Quote:
Pennsylvania sales tax is 6% of the purchase price or the current market value of the vehicle. (7% for residents of Allegheny County(Pittsburgh) and 8% for City of Philadelphia residents.)
Quote is from this PA GOV publication.

Regardless, there are three choices for Tax Rates 6%,7%,8%.

The tax is on the full price of the car unlike my state where the % over 6% is only on the first $5,000.

If you divide your sales tax by one of these numbers depending on where you live you will get your purchase price. That is, if your sales tax was $4000 and your tax rate was 8%, (4000 / .08 = 50000), then your purchase price was $50,000. Most peoples tax rate in PA is 6%. (Rebates do not lower your sales tax but discounts do.)

EDIT: One more important thing to remember, this sales tax may be deductible on your tax return.

You are supposed to remove the stock floor mats with either of them. Even the OEM slush mats require you to remove the standard floor mats.

Both the husky and the weathertec set have the middle part there... The thing I like about both the husky and weathertec over the OEM slush mats is the higher lip/capacity of them. They hold more crud/melted water/mud... and the thing I like about the husky I mentioned already. No holes. Any of these mats would be a good choice over the stock carpets.

I find it amusing that it has gotten to the point where they have to carpet line the floor of a car because people expect the "luxury" of carpet... then cover that up with plastic/rubber mats. Why bother carpeting the floor of the vehicle in the first place?? Leave a damn drain hole in the bottom so I can hose it out... sheesh.

Does anyone have a link to a pdf or the download page to the UConnect manual and/or the owners manual for the CRD? I am thinking about passing the wait by reading as much as possible before delivery.

Sales tax on new vehicles in PA does have the value of any trade subtracted before calculation.

I suspect that few people claim sales tax on their Federal Taxes at this point because it would be an alternative to deducting other types of taxes and which for many of us is a better deal. (And easier to document)

Too funny. had a friend way back in HS whose parents had a picture perfect living room... the couches were covered in those clear plastic protectors and you were not allowed to even set foot in the room ...

At any rate, to the discussion at hand. I have the Weathertechs in by GC. The fit great and are very easy to just take out and scrub/hose off. Reason I got them over the factory slush mats is previous experience with flat rubber mats in black interior cars. No matter what you do, you will get salt stains around the sides of the mats, on the floor and center tunnel carpet. They are a P.I.T.A. to get out, need to use vinegar and a brush.

Having the deep dish on these types of mats should help with that.

If salt is staining your carpets, that's the least of your worries if preserving the value of the vehicle is a concern! It'll die from cancer sooner than later....

True and true.
I did forget to mention the Trade-in thing. Even though I may be trading depending on how much they offer, my agreement is without a trade. As far as I know the subtraction for trade-ins is nationwide. Also, it was clear his sales tax didn't include a trade.

As far as a tax deduction that is why I said "May Be".

I know most people like carpet. I will preserve the original mats until I sell. I would prefer no carpeting and a drain hole or holes. As I would prefer this in my house as well. Especially that time I forgot the kitchen faucet was open when the phone rang.

I'm where it snows for only two weeks of the year. The main reason for the floor mats is to make it easier to keep the dog hair under control.(The dog hair doesn't stick to rubber floor mats.) Also, I just like the way they look. My memories of the after market floor mats that came with a used excursion I bought was they didn't stay in place very well, I think they were weather tech. They are probably better now.

In the rust belt they all die of cancer sooner rather than later...

As far as the salt staining, what happens is the slat/slush mix that gets on your boots/jeans when tromping though deeper snow has a tendency to wick into the carpet, evaporate, and leave the salt residue on the surface, especially adjacent to the gas pedal. Its not a full on sal****er soaker.

I had an internal debate on the Husky/Weathertec/Jeep thing and decided to go off the board and get a set from Lund. I wanted a mat with some carpet on them. I did get the Jeep cargo mat however.
