I'm new to the forum and plan to order a Grand Cherokee Overland CRD, hopefully this week. I've contacted six dealers in my area so far, trying to get the best price.

I've read with interest that several of you have been able to get deals substantially below invoice (3-7% below invoice). The best offer I have so far is $100 over dealer invoice (which could just be due to my lack of negotiating skills). I've been reluctant to push too hard because I thought the dealer hold-back on Jeeps was 3%. It seems to me that if a dealer sells a car for less than his hold back he will lose money. Am I missing something? Is the dealer invoice on Jeeps bogus or are there other "hidden" sources of profit for dealers?

With a tread lightly membership you should be able to get at least to 1% under invoice. Some high volume dealers do get additional kickbacks from CDJ if they meet a particular volume level so they have more play.

Using Affiliate or Friends in Family pricing programs actually gets the dealer a 2% off invoice kickback. That plus the 3% holdback means that the dealer breaks even (excluding all other overhead, prep cost, and doc fees) at @ 5% under, on paper anyway. I am sure there are other volume bonuses that are not disclosed as well as other ways they claw back some margin, i.e. $500 doc fees, financing kickbacks, etc.

Thank you, I guess I was right for pushing them to get it in there right away. My salesman kept telling me not to worry as they were taking all sold orders.

They were trying from the beginning of the day on the 9th, to get it in; I know I still wasn't close to the first person with a VON.

I've had weathertechs in my 2014 for about 4 months and they've been great. Great fit and they have that rear hump in the back. They might as well be oem for the fit.
