I live just outside of Jackson. Glad you enjoyed your visit!

Yes, I accredit my dealer with being proactive and aggressive although small. I suspect he only had allocation for one or maybe two CRDs in August. I'll ask him.

You should ask, I would like to know (and you likely would too) if he needed to take on other vehicles to get the diesel.

Sometimes the small stores are the best deal with!

Ok. My dealer friend said no special deals....just a "Sold" order. Being in the Texas region may have been the ticket.

So here's what we know:

Possible Pros:

Texas allocation
Very early 8/9 order
Limited trim

Possible Cons:

Rural dealer
Low volume dealer
Not an allocation, just "Sold" order

No rhyme or reason....go figure?

Luck of the draw.

New info:

So sounds like the orders to production is one of the fastest up takes in recent history so possibly the allotment is greater than originally planned too (to catch up a bit). Looks like a lot of these orders will be processed soon.

Now for the more interesting question, how long for the QC.

If you replace your VIN with the VIN in this URL you should get your sticker. You need your entire VIN not just the Last 9 digits. The first 8 digits for mine are: 1C4RJFCM
The Ninth digit is the check digit and can be calculated. This doesn't work for my VIN yet. At some point it should work.
Doesn't work with mine either. I tried all possible 'check digits'

I believe the vehicle has to be built in order for it to work.
I will try again during the building process; but, I assume when Milous can do a build sheet the Sticker will be available.

Figure out the first part of your vin here:
Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - 2011-up Grand Cherokee VIN decoding

You can use this tool to get your check digit. All you have to do is put an "X" in for the check digit and it gives you the correct check digit.
Alton's VIN Calculation Page

You can use: 1C4RJEBGXEC107594 to test it should return 1C4RJEBG5EC107594 the check digit being five.

Ah, I had read the formula for calculating it wasn't publicly available.

Correct. Same with build sheets. Reason is, there may be last-minute changes on the assembly line, and the build sheet/window sticker needs to be 100% accurate - and won't be necessarily match unless documented after the vehicle rolls off the line. Recent example - the Cruise/Stop running change from NH1 to NH3. If the build sheet/window sticker were issued ahead, it would not have reflected that particular change.

Could be true, but with enough real VINs it would be easy to derive.

Someone is always smart enough to figure this stuff out.

They could have made it much more difficult. The formula on that page was exceedingly simple.

That makes sense. I was thinking it was some kind of tool that builds it on demand, as opposed to having static content for each VIN.

I hadn't thought about the fact things change before the vehicle leaves; however, the sticker does say:
Quote:
This window sticker may or may not match the actual window sticker on the vehicle itself. We reserve the right to make changes without notice and are not responsible for typographical errors. Dealers are independent and free to set their own prices.
As soon as the first ones get finished we will be able to see the EPA numbers.

So, I assume the only place we can confirm what is being built is Chrysler's VOTS before it leaves the factory.
