In Florida, any one that has Comprehensive auto insurance has 100% (no deductible) front Windshield coverage. The rest of the windows are subject to your Comprehensive deductible, mine is $100. (My collision deductible is $1000.)

Generally, in most states, glass is covered subject to ones comprehensive deductible. The lowest comprehensive deductible with my insurance is $50, this includes the sun roof.

If you don't have comprehensive insurance then windshields and other windows are not covered at all.

That said, my first sun roof was on a 1977 Ford Pinto Wagon(0-60,not). Almost all of my cars since then have had sunroofs. I have never has so much as a chip on any of them.

Funny story:

My Murano caught a falling rock thrown from a truck several hundred yards ahead on the interstate. I hard a pop when it hit...no harm done. 45 minutes later, I arrived at my destination, shut off the car and was reading emails in silence.....KABOOM!!! My sunroof exploded. I thought I was being shot at, my hearing was gone....grabbed my 1911 and bailed out of the car!

The shade was pulled so I never saw it until I stood up outside the car and saw the sunroof bubbling up, completely crystalized. As my hearing returned, I could hear it continuously crackling.

4 rolls of duct tape later, I drove it home.

Your welcome sir!

Another crazy story about T-tops:

In '92 I ordered a new Camaro with T-tops. I wanted the 5 speed manual with 5.7L but was told only the 5.0L was allowed due to body twist from engine torque with the manual transmission. I called BS on that but order the 5.0L w/T-tops.

After the warranty expired in 16 months due to mileage, I chipped the engine, replaces the exhaust, put 275/50's all around and went for a test ride. I found a flat stretch and rolled to a stop. 1st gear, RPMs at 3500, dropped the clutch, big tires bit hard....off like a bullet.. but there was a crunch too.

My T-tops, made of acrylic, completely crystalized...crushed by body twist from the hard launch. Didn't the dealer say something about this? LOL. $600 later, I had new black painted metal T-top inserts instead.

You seem to have bad luck with transparent roof accouterments.
If I were you, I would have the underside of your new Pano Sunroof protected with "3M™ Scotchshield™ Automotive Security Film". It turns any glass into safety glass. Actually it's not a bad idea for anyone. I have something similar here in Florida on all my home's windows in the event of a hurricane. I wouldn't want it on windows that get rolled up and down though.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I know a gal who was driving home one day...they live in an area that's under a common flight path towards an airport (about 7 miles from the airport).

As she was driving with her 2 kids in the back seat she heard a huge crash of glass and her SUV (I think it was an ACURA MDX?). She looked in her rear and side mirrors to look around her and noticed the cars behind her were swerving left and right. She pulled over to make sure everyone was OK and they discovered that her sunroof was shattered and that there were a few small metal pieces scattered on the road as well as embedded in the roof of her SUV. The state patrol showed up and said it's fairly common in that area to have vehicles hit by pieces of airplanes and the frozen bathroom chunks/ pellets from the airplane.

YIKES!!!

I am certain the Pano glass is made of the same strength as the windshield, and therefore would not break, but simply crack like the windshield. Also, under that Pano glass, there is a sliding headliner, so when closed, you would not even know that you had a pano roof.
Ahh, again the worry is more about kids in the back seat rather than vehicle damage. We have had some flash hail storms that have destroyed cars and glass here in the US in the past. Would hate to test the pano's reliability although it does sound like we would be reasonably safe. And I am a little over cautious with other people's children especially. Precious cargo.

Rofl so I am not totally crazy in worrying about a piece of glass/plexi whatever on the outside world moving at 60 mph. Had a rock hit my windshield in my element thought it was a gun shot as well.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Is it possible to order the GC CRD Overland stripped down. That is only the skid plates, leather seats and the adjustable suspension and tow package? I know, why would you? It's my husband, it's what he wants. Not me mine will have all the bells and whistles.

On a side note, what about a different color? I really like the Winter Chill but it doesn't seem to be offered with the 2014 GC models.
