Go to the group thread and ask for someone to PM you the contact information. If I can PM yet, heck I'll send it to you. I couldn't get local dealers to do more than about $1500 off sticker and it was a time sink to get anywhere. Screw them, an email quote via the group buy, a $25 subscription to Tread Lightly , a credit card deposit to the dealer and it was a done deal. 5 weeks from order date to driving it home. Cost savings? Mine was a Limited V6 4 x 4 with tow package, right at $40k list, was $36 and change plus TTL.
Thanks for the replies!

Thank you Shannon and TopDownFun for the PMs! I would've replied but I'm not allowed yet.

I've been sitting here doing the math on what the two dealers we wasted our time with yesterday were "offering" me. I was happy just to know the real invoice numbers but even happier with the potential of a even bigger savings. "Time sink" is a great description.

We've kicked around the idea of 4x4 but since this will primarily be a cross country road trip machine we were more concerned with gas mileage. I need to read some of the posts about that....haven't made it there yet. I would love the diesel but the cost is keeping me away.

We went yesterday and drove a Limited with Uconnect, single CD, and 20" wheels. The dealer was asking $37,200. The number didn't seem right so we thanked them for their time and left.

We'd like a....
Limited 4x2
Lux Group II
20" wheels
Sun roof

Could be talked into an Overland 4x2 if the price is right.

Anyone had any luck with similar purchases around the San Antonio Texas area (Austin, San Marcos, New Braunfels)? I've read about a group buy from a Houston dealer. How does that work?

Thanks for any and all help!
PM sent for Texas group buy

If the 4wd GC gets 2 mpg less than the 2wd unit, even if you travel 10,000 miles cross country your additional gas expense should be less than $150.

Somebody posted recently that a Jeep without 4wd is like a supermodel without boobs. I concur!

I was just reading about the fuel mileage differences between the 4x4 and 4x2...I agree...negligible. "Supermodel without boobs"...mind if I change that to a "lingerie model without boobs"? Ha!

There is almost no difference in fuel economy between the 4x2 and the 4x4, especially at highway speeds. The resale and general utility of the 4x4 is very much worth the slightly higher initial cost.

I generally get between 20-24 mpg on the highway...and that's with the Hemi V8 and the older 6-speed transmission.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Ladies and gents, a dealer claims he can locate the exact JGC i'm wanting. The dealer participates in affiliate pricing for -1% off of invoice.

Some questions:
1. Is the dealer going to hit me up for a destination charge on top of the discount affiliate price?
2. If the answer to #1 is yes, then should I be willing to pay a transport charge to have the JGC trucked in from its present location? (I didn't want to have it driven to me and a bunch of miles racked up)
3. What sorts of shenanigans should I be on the lookout for if I go in to sign the final paperwork?
4. Should I tell the dealer the details on my potential trade in in advance? (Fully loaded '13 Hyundai) I'm guessing the answer is no.

I've never bought anything using affiliate pricing before, so having a fixed price right off the bat is new to me. My dealer is in Southern Indiana / Western Kentucky. Anyone know if I can get a better deal than the affiliate price?

Thanks in advance,
C

You can save about $2000 in both the Texas and the DC deal. You will pay transport fees no matter where you buy.

I'd love to have that kind of time off but I just can't swing it. otherwise the group buys would be awesome.

Destination charge is part of the cost of the vehicle, it is separated out only to show there is no markup on it. The 1% discount below invoice pertains to this as well.

However, the cost to transfer a vehicle from one dealer to another is not included in the Affiliate Rewards Program and can and will be charged. Also, the Dealer "Doc" fee can be charged, although every dealer I know of has discounted this to around $100 or lower depending on your local laws, any additional dealer installed options(like pin striping) can be added on also. There is a $75 Affiliate Rewards program fee that is added also but is already included on the invoice's preferred price. Don't let them add that twice. Check my previous posts as I uploaded a lot of detail regarding Affiliate Rewards Pricing...

One more thing, although happy with the affiliate pricing I do know others have gotten better deals, with and without the program. I don't like to haggle so I chose not to. The affiliate rewards program gave me that ability.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Hi everyone - I've been lurking here for quite a while as I decided what I wanted to buy. I've learned a lot from you guys. Thank you. I own a Wrangler which we love and I've decided to pull the trigger on a JGC. I live in Texas - would someone please PM me the Houston group buy info? Thank you very much in advance.
