Which is more important to you: Being right or getting a good price on a GC?

right now you are looking at 8-12 week from order to delivery.

What's important to me is spending my money wisely at a place that appreciates my business and doesn't mistreat me during the process. Being called a liar while your possible spending 50k plus is unacceptable.

I agree, you need to get a good deal, and be treated well. I bought mine in Texas for the great deal and great treatment from the dealer. I chose my service department in Minnesota based on how I was treated by the dealers when I was negotiating a price. Even though I bought elsewhere, I found several local dealers I will not go to because of how I was treated. Remember, you can get your service at any Jeep dealer. Buy where you get the best deal and are treated well, service where you are treated well.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I remain amazed at how "stupid" and disrespectful so many dealer folks remain in this day and age that's permeated with communication and readily available information. I almost walked away from my local dealer twice when I was buying my MY12 and in hindsight, I likely should have "shopped" more...but I didn't know what I do now and next time, the deal will rule, regardless of the ultimate purchase point of presence. It's not that I didn't get a reasonably good deal. I did at the time. But as someone who is in sales professionally, I just wasn't pleased with the way I was treated personally during the negotiation.

Jim, I've been in sales and sales management professionally since 1968, and I fully agree with everything you just said.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

That's about right, but I also seem to recall that the DC group buy dealer added back something like $400 or so, which made it more like 6.5% off invoice. Check the DC thread to find out those details.

As I've mentioned previously, 3 local dealers wouldn't come close to the Houston dealer's price until after I ordered mine; then, one of them called me back and agreed to match it. It was end of the month and they hadn't sold their quota, and the General sales Mgr. finally relented. I declined, telling them that I was going with a dealer who didn't play games, and I was willing to wait. I also reminded them that I had told them that when I was in the dealership discussing it with them.

They did tell me that they still wanted my service business, and I thanked them for that and said I'd give them a chance when the need arose.

Good move that's the way to stand your ground and take your business where it's appreciated. There's no time for games when your spending large sums of money.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Sorry to ask such a basic question but could not find the answer after searching for a while. What is the correlation between the sticker price and the invoice price, is there just a simple percentage relationship? If yes, what percentage is the invoice from the sticker? Thanks!

In terms of msrp versus invoice it's real easy......forget msrp even exists. In this day and age anyone paying over invoice is paying too much except on rare situations. A real good resource is fightingchance.com. It will tell you all you need to know about why even invoice is too much to pay these days
