Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

Can a dealer go below affiliate pricing and still utilize the program to get their holdback bonus?

The answer is yes. Dealer holdback is a sacred cow and virtually never ever dipped into in doing a deal. They treat that as their bare minimum earnings on a deal. They don't need to, they can stack incentives, rebates and official pricing programs (Employee, Friends & Family, Supplier, Affiliate, etc...) per the applicable rules to get well under invoice, 1-6% with regularity. It just depends what your regional market is like and how much you like to negotiate with a dealer. If a dealer sells, say to a Chrysler employee, using employee pricing (5% below invoice) they still get their entire holdback. Dealers love to use legit pricing discounts and manufact incentives together since the dealer is either made whole or at the very least does not have to "participate (throw in $)" with the incentive or program and, yet, the customer gets big discounts. This has the effect of protecting their minimum margins but in many cases allows them to have bigger profit margins when "official" discounts are used. The group buys are nothing more than a creative arrangement of these official manuf pricing plan discounts and dealer discounts.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I am new to Jeep, is it hard to get dealers to use the base money factor and residual? There are some good prices out there, but when I start talking to salesmen about leasing and not wanting a marked up money factor, they don't seem to want to respond anymore.

I am just looking to do a 2 year lease on a summit or overland.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I have an odd situation. MSRP for summit is $54,185, agreed upon price is $47,985. 24 month lease, residual is 60%, mf .00023. With those numbers monthly payment with no tax should be $663 with 0 down. And since I am in texas I need to pay full tax on the car which is $2999.

They gave me the paperwork and the numbers were different, the Gross Cap cost was $50345, cap cost reduction was $1499, adjusted cap cost was $48846. The payment was $699 a month, I asked them 3 times does this payment include taxes and they said yes. The paperwork says N/A next to every sales tax line.

$699 a month with taxes included is much better than the original deal we agreed on, so I am guessing they forgot to put the taxes in even though I asked about it.

I signed the paperwork, paid them first months $699 payment, and got the deal done even though I felt like something was wrong. If they did really make a mistake, can they do something about it? Or because everything is already signed they are going to have to eat it?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

I'm interested in getting a 2014 Overland... Can someone tell me what the invoice number is? I looked throughout the thread but there's a bunch of pages.

Seeing that I want to buy the Jeep, would I get a better deal in September? or Novemberish due to the 2015 models?

How much for navigation and camera on the Altitude? Is it standard on the 15s? Or just available?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Ordering Information and Pricing

They are options on the late MY14 and on the MY15 Altitudes. The backup camera requires the sound system upgrade. The Alitutude pricing seems to be missing in the initial post (trim level was a late add), but here it is from the wk2jeeps.com site:

Laredo Altitude - Options

A. 9 AMPLIFIED SPEAKERS W/SUBWOOFER (RC3) (requires Parkview camera) ($495 / INV. $ 441)
B. ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (NHK) ($95 / INV. $ 85)
C. PARKVIEW™ REAR BACK-UP CAMERA (XAC) (requires RC3) ($395 / INV. $ 352)
D. POWER SUNROOF (GWA) ($995 / INV. $ 886) (required option)
E. SINGLE DISC REMOTE CD PLAYER (RH1) ($445 / INV. $ 396)
F. TRAILER TOW GROUP IV (AHX) ($795 / INV. $ 708)

Does your deal incorporate the $1k rebate?

You may or may not be eligible (go to jeep dot com with your zip and see). If you are NOT eligible take it, you can't do any better. The DC group buy price without rebate on this is $43,795 or so (incl $995 dest) +ttl.

If you are eligible you could muscle that dealer into giving you that discount instead of keeping it and save you $1k. Or, if they won't, the DC buy won't play that game and your price would be $42,795 or so.

Numbers always seem to be "off" by $50-75 for some reason.

Good luck!
