Hello all!

First time poster, and potential first time Jeep owner here. I did own a 1996 Ford Bronco for ten years, and would still be wearing the black armband I wore when it died, if my boss didn't make me take it off.

Considering a 2014 Limited V8, ORA II, Lux II, and Adv. tech. I'd go for the Overland, but I don't like the partial wood steering wheel. I had a wood steering wheel once, and when it was sitting in the sun for hours I had to wait for a while before I could drive. Those get hot!

I've gone through the pricing on the first page - what would be a reasonable discount above/below invoice, assuming I was just an average guy off the street with no special associations or affiliations, and had my own financing, and no trade in? I don't begrudge anyone their profit, but don't want to have them high-fiving each other when I drive off the lot.

I've never driven a diesel before - how does the launch off the line and general acceleration compare to a V8? The gas milage and long term reliability of the diesel is attractive, but I admit I like the "push back in the seat" of a V8 and don't want anything sluggish (I had a 351 V8 in my Bronco and loved it).

Thanks!

I ordered my Overland without any affiliations, no trade, and secured financing through my credit union... The dealer gave me $1,094 below invoice. As far as the diesel goes, I've only ever driven the Touareg TDI (2013) and it had excellent launch and acceleration. The only reason I didn't purchase the Grand Cherokee or Touareg diesel was price... Both were much more than I wanted to spend with the options I desired.

Just took delivery of my '14 Overland (Granite):

Drove her home about an hour ago. Posting from inside the vehicle right now in the driveway. Local dealership found this one in Oregon a few days ago about 150 miles south and had it transported to them this morning. Exactly what I wanted!

Absolutely loving it so far.

I drove a true blue with indigo interior, it was beautiful in the bright sunshine! If I had not made myself a promise that my next vehicle was not going to be a dark color, I would have driven that one home. Even with that conviction, I was wavering, it was that good looking. Thank goodness it had the CD player option, and I really didn't want to lose the center console space.

For those of you hearing the buzzing sound or metallic rattle while driving, I have posted the info over in the following Jeep Garage Forum: 2014 Overland Buzzer Sound While Driving. The info their contains the Chrysler Star Number and what was found along with a picture of the offending bracket.

Now to get the estimate on the hail damage and then get the PDR team to get them knocked out. At least none of them chipped or broke the paint seal so that is in my favor. Found 5 more this morning once the daylight came (no sun).

Appreciate the thoughts guys and gals. Was a tough night thinking of the dents in my new ride :(

I really like the Max Steel, but on seeing a Granite JGC in person earlier this week I've decided to get it instead. It's much better looking in person than on the web and is quite a bit different than my 05 Dodge with mineral grey. Glad I saw it in person before my order goes in.

#5,412 ·
That's all I see my local dealer has as well, Black, White, and Red. They mixed up the interior colors, but they are only ordering Laredo and Limited models and the V6. They've only had 2 V8's in, mine being the first and one other sitting on the lot. I would assume they have a higher demand for the higher model/bigger engine but I guess not.

Thanks for the pic ravenclaw, now I know exactly what mine will look like!

Hi folks!

Is $49,646+tax/doc fee a good deal on a 2014 GC Summit? They are offering a $2000 rebate but too bad I'm not military, don't own a vw and I don't lease a car :-(

doc fee is $299

What do you guys think? Can it get better than that? It seems bellow invoice not even counting with the destination fee which is already on the price.

#5,432 ·
The doc fee seems a little high. Mine's about half that, but I guess some of that depends on where you live.

#5,433 · (Edited)
In my opinion, that's a VERY GOOD DEAL to get that Jeep for anything under $50k.

I was shooting for an even $50k on the SAME vehicle and struck out !!

Here was my story:
http://www.jeepgarage.org/f73/help-struck-out-ordering-14-summit-at-2-dealers-57081.html

Invoice is showing as $50,735
Plus Destination $ 995
Total $51,730

So 3% Below Invoice is still $50,178 so you are at about 4% Below Invoice.

Unless I calculated wrong, or got the wrong prices from Page 1, I think that's a good deal.

I am still looking for a 4x4 Summit V8 for $50,000 !!!

#5,437 ·
You will have to pay license, title and tax on any vehicle you buy, so the issue is getting the best deal possible before that stuff.

For comparison, how much better did you do on your Jeep ?

Many people here paid 1% Below Invoice.

I'm doing a five hour ride to do the deal in DC. Totally worth it. Not trading anything in though... probably going to have to rent a car to drive down or something.

2014 Summit 4x4 V8

MSRP: $53,690
Destination: $ 995
Total: $54,685

Dealer Invoice: $50,735
Destination: $ 995
Total: $51,730

I still say any negotiated price below $50,000 (+ Fees) is Very Good without having any type of Group Buy and for not having to pay for an Affiliate program.

They key is... don't become emotionally invested with a rig.

If you can find exactly what you want, but the dealer won't budge. Leave, go talk to other dealers. If you can work out a deal with them that meets your price point, they can have a rig swapped from another dealer, or traded while in transit.

And honestly, anything greater then 1% under invoice is a decent deal.

Depending on where you are, there are group buys going down (7% under invoice in DC, the $1,750 under invoice Colorado deal, the 3% Seattle deal to name a few).

The only thing to be aware of when buying a vehicle out of state is if your state has Lemon laws. Be aware that by buying out of state, you may lose that protection.

none negotiation was done yet. Guys was pretty bummed that he had to take out the car from the truck to show me... couldn't even tell me the price at the time! So this morning he sent me an email with window sticker and the price they will sell the car!

I might still have some room for freebies, accessories or something like that... my question was really if this is a good start point or I was just being ripped off! Guys isn't even trying to make a sell, don't even have my phone number! This is their first offer, in the meantime I will shop around and see what others have to offer.

I did like the car, it's a black/black summit 4x4 v8 and it looks nice! they also have a red/brown coming in which he would sell for a little more since it has a cd player, but the same discount would apply according to him!

Well then that is a Great starting point "before" negotiation.

To give you an idea.....my Best Price at 3 Dealers is now $51,250 and that's after 2 Hours of Tense Negotiating at each !!

What State are you in ?
