You guys REALLY want this diesel huh?

I don't blame you. It's fun!

Can you say TORQUE?

#5,663 ·
I called to request the paper versions of the manuals today. The young lady was going over the list. "She chuckled when she said, I know you don't have a diesel, so you don't need that one."

No I didn't get my car yet, lol. 1% under with affiliate, you should be able to do that. Try to get with a group but if possible, great deals to be had. Email a lot of dealers to get them to compete for your money.

You can't get skid plates and 20" wheels from the factory.

You can get a Limited with 20" wheels OR a Limited with tow hooks and skid plates but only with 18" wheels.

Overland comes standard with 20" wheels and tow hooks. To get skid plates from the factory you have to get off road package which includes 18" wheels.

Warning: Yes.. I am reposting from another thread, before anyone flames me :-D

Traded in my 2011 Durango Citadel on 3/30 for a 2014 Summit.. and love it. I liked Durango a lot, but some of the tech was lacking & uconnect issues were irritating. There was only one Summit within hundreds of miles of my dealer spec'd how I wanted (granite metallic, black interior, v6, summit) and I was very lucky to get it. They had several people make offers on it while it was sitting in lot waiting for me to pick it up, lol. One lady was pissed b/c she just bought a 2013 and hadn't seen/known about the 2014's and liked it alot better..

After reading some of the posts in here, I was nervous that I would run into some issues, especially given how anal I am about everything in general. However, I must say.. it's pretty much perfect. I can usually find something to b**ch about, but after 2 weeks, nothing yet. Uconnect works great, remote app for phone works great, car rides smooth, all features work, no rattles/squeaks, HK audio sounds AWESOME. Only unconfirmed issue is BT audio stream drops sometimes/randomly when playing music, but I can't pin that on UC yet, since I am using a rooted GNII with custom rom.. could just be bug in BT stack as I haven't tested audio anywhere else with it yet.

Of course, before i took delivery, I made it VERY clear that they were to hook up truck to star tool & perform all updates before I picked it up, which in itself may have prevented me from having issues. I work in IT, and there is a reason mfg's release firmware/code updates. Getting your typical mechanic to get on the same page with that mindset is still a challenge, even given how much software directly controls late model vehicles these days. I always make sure they check/perform updates when I go in for an oil change for my vehicles, and it has prooven to serve me well, even though it's a bit of a argument each time. I would suggest everyone do the same. If J2534 adapters & TA subscriptions weren't so expensive, i'd just do it myself, and I think it's ridiculous that it's so hard to keep SW up to date in a vehicle, when it's probably the cause of 80% of late model vehicle issues. There is a 3G radio in system.. would it really be that hard to implement a 'live update' sort of solution???

Anyway, enough ranting. Great truck!

Interesting point. I wonder how often they come out with these updates? Probably more frequently after a new technology roll out, then less frequently over time. It would be revealing to ask the dealer(s) when you are getting ready to purchase a new vehicle if this is something they do as part of routine maintenance whenever you bring your vehicle in. For tech/IT guys like libby and myself, when people are having problems the first thing we usually ask is if they have the latest version of software (that is after we ask if they have it plugged in...).

Hi All:
On my drive in to work today, saw a pre-MY14 WK2 that looked stunning (to me anyway) and looked up the color and found it was the Mineral Gray Metallic. I'm wondering if the Billet Silver Metallic is the closest to the MGM color or is it something else. The more I wait until Labor Day, the more my color decisions get harder - first True Blue for sure, then Max Steel, and now potentially BSM!!!!

I agree that MGM looks good on the Jeeps - that was my plan for the 2014 SRT until the colors came out. (I'm in love with the Max Steel though, very happy with it).

BSM is lighter; much closer to Silver IMO than it is to MGM.

Granite Crystal Metallic is darker than MGM.

I would advise that you go to a dealership and look at the colors in person. I would also advise that you do it more than once; sunny day, cloudy day, night... The colors that Jeep put out really do change depending on conditions. They all have so much metallic fleck in them they catch light very differently.

Good luck!

Great Summary! Thanks!
So basically, from light to dark:
BrightSM-BilletSM-MGM-GCM-MaxSteelM
Max Steel it is, or TB, of BSM... LOL
Funny how MGM is dead center on this 5 color silver to dark silver scale.

The BSM literally caught my eye this morning passing me on the right - I guess I haven't seen much of them up in North-Central NJ! I swear I'll end up with a White and beige.

37days dude, not just yet! The bad side is it took some intervention to get it released and another 10 days to get here. On the plus side, everything is flawless. Fits are perfect, no Uconnect issues, none of the problems others have mentioned. I consider myself one of the lucky ones to get a flawless truck.

It will be worth the wait.

You know... if my phone quits working in the middle of BFE Kansas because of a software update failure and I can't call someone until I get to a gas station that's going to suck. If my Jeep quits working in BFE Kansas because of a software update failure and strands me in the middle of nowhere I'm going to be EXTREMELY pissed off.

I think that's your basic answer.

What sucks is that those early adopters to the MY14 appear to be the beta testers of the UConnect system which is odd since they are already being used "problem free" with Dodge Dart(?). I just hope they resolve these issues. My biggest concern with the entire "touch screen" everything is being confirmed by this-if you have 90% of the HVAC/Electronic controls on an electronic/touch screen interface, THIS is what happens. Hope it gets resolved by Labor Day when I go order/purchase mine.

Hi Milous, hope you can see this post.

On your first page, is the CDR engine estimated price for the Summit model different than the Limited and Overland models?
Thanks
It automatically comes with ELSD at the Summit trim.

I sell industrial touchscreens with embedded controls that operate machinery. It has been accepted by machine builders and their end users that touch screens are less expensive, as reliable, and more versatile than hardwired controls. The HMI (human machine interface) software and touchscreen market is 20+ years old. Auto applications are just now catching on as hardware cost has decreased and embedded OS technology has become commonplace. I wouldn't be shocked if UConnect is an Android or similar Linux OS based app.

I'm kinda hoping for an SDK myself...

Atleast that way I can mod in some BSOD's to make me feel better if something on the rig goes wrong...

Remember, if you get a BSOD in your car, to close all the windows and restart.
