The president of a dealer I am talking to just emailed me and said they have tentative but not final pricing. Here's hoping to some downward adjustments! ;)

I don't think the Jeep has to be delivered to the place you bought it from. I'm almost certain you can have it dropped of at your local dealership if not even your own house for that matter. Guess that's up to who you are buying from.
From my understanding, the $995 cover shipping to the dealer you order from. Now if you were from out of state and ordered from Pat, and wanted Pat to ship the car to you, this could probably be delivered to your door. But keep in mind, this shipping cost is in addition to the $995. So you would pay $995 to have it shipped from the factory to Pat, plus another $1000 or so to have Pat ship it to you. Jeep cannot ship from the factory to your front door.

My dealer has my order and is ready to order and soon as the order can be placed. I am certain of my choices. :) I might be out of the country when the order is placed.

I think my biggest fear now is someone at my dealer accidentally fills the vehicle with gasoline before delivery.

I hope it's not like the teak on a boat which needs to be stripped, sanded and revarnished periodically. I just sold my boat.:(

The "open-pore-ness" of it gives it a bit of an unfinished look as opposed to the glossy finish you would normally get from wood that's been primed and sealed. Just concerned that it won't hold up to the pressures of day to day use being baked and blasted with UV rays. At least it's real wood and not some moulded plastic with a wood grain look.

#1,146 ·
The wood is finished just as durably...they just haven't used a filler in the pores so it retains a natural texture.

Now that you've ordered your Grand Cherokee, you have plenty of time to

the User's Guide and Owner's Manual. The link below does have both for the 2014, just select it in the drop down box.

That way, the morning after you bring your Jeep home, you won't have to log on to the Jepp Garage and ask how to unlock the door. You can be the person who explains it to everybody else.

Bill,

But what is the point to a forum if a dumb person or question can't be asked? If we read The manual we wouldn't need expert advice and be able to laugh at the dumb things..

How do I get the gas cap off of this thing, it looks weird??

How do you know when the cap is tight enough?

This may have been answered, but to get the Quadra-Drive II on the Overland, it lists no charge with AWY and EXF or EZH. Does that mean you need to have the OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE II (AWY) PLUS either the 3.0L V6 TURBO DIESEL ENGINE (EXF) or 5.7L V8 MDS VVT ENGINE (EZH) for a no charge, otherwise its still $795 if you get an overland diesel without the off-road adventure II?

QUADRA-DRIVE II 4WD SYSTEM (AWB) (requires 27P) [MSRP $795 / INV. $ 708] with AWY and EXF or EZH: (no charge)

Correct.

To get the QD2 option you cannot have the V6, you must have the CRD or V8.

On the Overland trim, you can select JUST to add the QD system if you want, or you can select the ORA2 group.

For Limited, you have to get ORA2 to get QD2.

Summit, QD2 comes standard with the CRD and V8 (hence the price increase on the CRD and V8 engines for the Summit).

Interior wise the Limited does not include the leather dash correct? Thats the main difference inside when compared to the Overland?

Im debating on ordering one of the following:

Overland 4x4 W/
-Diesel
-Off-Road Aventure II

or

Limited 4x4 W/
-Diesel
-Lux Group II
-Off-Road Aventure II
-UConnect (RA4)

I added both up with dest fee and 1% off MSRP and came out with the following:

-Overland = $49,136
-Limited = $45,985.

Difference of: $3,751.00

Not sure the leather dash is worth it for that kind of price difference.

#1,158 ·
Are official specifications, measurements, and capacities available for the 2014? If so, where?

I am waffling between a loaded Limited or Overland and leaning towards the CRD. However I need to make sure this will fit in my garage before I get too serious. I downloaded the Owners Guide & Manual from jeep.com but didn't see any dimensions.

Thanks- Eric

long time reader, very very occasional.

first, thanks to pat and milous for giving this community and those of us that care all this information. its good guys like you that keep my faith up for the auto and auto sales industry.

second, ill chime in on my thoughts on the 3.0.

we have a '12 hemi. we use it to tow heavy loads, mostly my offroad wrangler on an 18' car hauler. the hemi does the job, but maxed out it can struggle at times and the fuel economy is around 10mpg on a flat stretch.

when i read the diesel was coming out for '14 i was beside myself with glee. i had seen the torque curves and it looked like it would be absolutely awesome for our needs. much better fuel economy all the way around than the hemi, and better power and better fuel economy while towing.

just like everyone else im absolutely floored at their choice in price. at that price point i think they have shot themselves in the foot in a big way. what some of you have speculated about upping their overall fuel average across the board and then putting it to their customers that really want the diesel makes sense to me. still doesnt make it right and imo still doesnt make it a smart business move at all.

saying that, the price of the diesel has put the gc with the 3.0 right up there with the vw toureg imo, the only real comparable suv on the american market. i initially had my heart set on the gc, but now the vw is being cross shopped.

chrysler, if you guys read these boards, you made a mistake on the diesel price and have possibly lost a customer to vw with me. keeping the diesel option priced competatively where you still make a profit makes more business sense than what you are doing.

Resale on Diesels is insane, they hold their value much longer then a petrol engine I've found.

Everyone wants one, but no one wants to pay the upfront cost...

That being said I am *hoping* there will be some rebates or something for the diesel.

The other big quesiton I have is, will we be able to get the extended warranty/Life time as well as Max Care packages on the diesel.

If not... that's... unsettling.

I'm 50/50 on leasing vs. buying at this point, so I'm hoping the people calculating the residual value agree with you on the diesel, and it ends up a couple of points higher. If that's the case, the diesel might actually pay for itself on a lease, where it wouldn't in a straight purchase.

You gunna offer up names or do we have to beat you with hoses?

I just started talking to Rairdon myself.

They seemed pretty clueless...

Tried to sell me a 13, and then tried to tell me the CRD would be $8k-$9k more then the V6, and I would not be able to pick up until late August.

I was not impressed.

There's a few of us Pacific Northwesters looking for dealers...

Let me kknow how Dave Smith goes. If we can get stuff delivered for us, that maybe the best solution (ordering from another dealer like Pat or Dave Smith).

Hmm - I got a bit luckier with the salesman I talked to. No real haggle.

I might just pop over to Dave Smith since they give awesome deals on trade-ins without a ton of haggle. Last time I went I was in and out within 1.5 hours and the wife and I had a nice night at the resort at Coeur d'Alene. Well worth it.

Was really pumped about the diesel, now, not so much.

Limited (because of 3.0 CRD availabilty) 36,192 + $995 des + Off Road adventure II $2221 + CRD $4005 + block heater $85 = 43498 - 1% ( I hope ) = $43,063.02

Laredo 30,795 + $995 des + Off Road adventure I $886 + Block heater $85 + Trailer Tow Group IV $574 = $33,335 - 1% (still hoping ) = $33,001.65

Limited - Laredo = $10,061.37 difference!

yes, all the prices are invoice and destination is included. Both are available in that beautiful Dark green they call Black Forest, either would be ordered with the lighter colored interior. ( summers get hot! ) Either would suit, but was hoping for the diesel because of long drives I ususally take. Towing is a factor, yes, BUT the towing duties are light as I would be pulling a smaller covered trailer with an ATV in it. So not that heavy. Unless I actually get lucky and bag an elk then add another 1000 pounds. And yes off road to me means OFF-ROAD, like miles and miles.

So now the penny pinching.

Laredo up to 25 mpg ( yes mine will be less as I am sure this is for the 4X2 and I NEED 4X4) This is the only mpg estimate i could find for the 3.6l in the Laredo.

As an aside, Why would anyone want a two wheel drive JEEP? After all, it's a JEEP!:) And that is a good thing.

Limited up to 30mpg with the 3.0l diesel ( yes also a 4X2 but i'm trying to keep things comparative. )
If i use today's prices ( forcasting fuel prices is about as accurate as alchemy )
$3.77 / 30mpg = $0.1257/mile for the diesel
$3.09 / 25mpg = $0.1236/mile for the gas

So the diesel would pay for the extra $4,005.00......never. In fact i would be going backward with each mile Driven.
Since I tend to keep my vehicles for 100,000 + miles, 100k X -.0021/mile = -$210 in the hole by buying the diesel.

So let the :slapfight: begin. I realize diesels often ( though not always) exceed EPA estimates, I just used what hard numbers are currently available. When trying to compare maintenance costs in gas verses diesel it gets dicy because it really depends a lot upon how they are driven. Dust and gravel roads/no roads are kind to niether.

Given; Limited is a nicer vehicle and the Quadra drive II is better. I'm not so keen on the QD lift that comes with the Off Road Adventure II.
(AWY) on the Limited is much the same as (AWL) + (AHX) on the Laredo

Yes, I wanted the diesel. But do I want it to the tune of $10,061.37?
Maybe I would be better off just getting a Ram 1500 crew and skip towing anything. The new Rams are ALSO rated at 'up to' 25mpg (same cravat about 4X2 verses 4X4) Grand Cherokee diesels won't start production until March 25th. Ram's will not have the 6'4" box until ? ( late availablity, however long that means ). So no help there.

Maybe I should hold my breath waiting for the Jeep Gladiator.

Dakota - if you join an affiliate program or have employer affiliate, the dealer should give you 1% under invoice no matter what. That is what it is designed for. If a Dealer won't accept it, then it is time to move to another dealer.

.

And since the dealer gets 2% for giving you 1, it's a win win.

SnoFire,
Are you still getting the Overland, or did you order something else? Your Overland is one of very few that made it to pre release.

I'm not getting the Overland Bill, the numbers didn't work out and the wife wouldn't be happy at all. Pat knew this might happen and I did inform him of that decision. When I did the get information from him yesterday, the VIN was on the sheet.

When the Lux II package becomes available, I will be ordering a Limited with Lux II and Towing.
