Kevin, I believe that the towing package is optional for a 4x2 configured GC...but yes you want it if you plan on towing as it's not just the hitch, but also some other upgrades that provide better performance under towing conditions as noted in the list of "stuff" you posted.

This is a repost from silvermax04 from a different thread, but this is what granite looks like....officially! It was a little scary to order a car in a color I've never seen before, but now I believe I made a good decision.

Test drove a v6 with the 8 sp last night. It felt as punchy as the 2013 v8/6sp combo. The new tranny is a huge improvement and I am sure mated up to the v8 it will be even better.

Diesel isn't going to start production until April 22nd, so you will be waiting a long time.

Congrats! This means D1.

If you read through all the built vehicles, most people stay in D1 for 9-15 days or so. I was personally in D1 for 13 days.

you'll likely get email updates when you're in trim before you get the update here. Then Milous takes over and updates you multiple times per day..what train its on, what truck, when it leaves for dealer...etc.

I ordered mine on 2/12, after allocation was already closed for the month and wasn't supposed to open back up until 3/5. My dealer said the allocation only applied to stock orders, sold orders were still allowed to go through. Mine went to D1 status yesterday, so it's moving pretty quick through the system.

Just test drove a V6 Limited. For acceleration the 8-speed is awesome! Got onto the freeway and flew past a Mustang. I was worried that my move from a 5.3L V8 to the V6 JGC would make me feel like I was losing a lot of get up and go, but it accelerates faster than my pickup. But I will say that the 8-speed at really low speeds was a little choppy. Dealer stated that this is an adaptive transmission and will "learn" the driving style. The look and feel of the interior was great and the seats were very comfortable.

Hello, new here, first post. I have a 2011 overland and will be replacing it with a 2014. My experiences with several jeep dealers have be pretty poor so far. I have never dealt with any manufacturer that has so many poor representatives for their product, and from many of the posts that I have read, this is true at all levels of this company. I thought I would share my latest experience with you, I just filled out an online request for Internet pricing on a jeep at a dealer near me on a 2014 they had in stock. 4 minutes after I sent the a mail I received a call, not from the dealer but from Chrysler concierge, asking me if anyone from the dealer had contacted me yet on my interest in a 2013 grand Cherokee. I told her no, but that it had only been a couple of minutes, and that I was interested in a 2014. She told me that they are not out yet, and was very surprised when I told her that I had already driven one this week. But having said all of this, I love my 2011 and will only part with it for a new one. What a great vehicle! Thank you all for the information that is available on this forum.

When you call the Chrysler Customer Assistance phone number and inquire about ordering a 2014 GC and want to know a date when you can order they refer you their press release web page. As far as Chrysler customer assistance and the press release website is concerned you can't even order a 2014 GC at all yet. They had no idea they started taking orders in January. I am very tempted to record a phone call with them to show how pointless it is to call them. Chrysler customer assistance is only for help with your existing vehicle. They should just tell you this when you call.

My dealer is, now, a lot better informed then they were when I first started talking to them about the 2014 GC CRD. I have been very happy with them(Ferman Jeep Tampa on 54). I am not asking for more of a discount than the Affiliate Program offers.

As I've mentioned before, I placed my order on 2/23, and got my email on 2/28. Really surprised, but happy it moved so quickly. My salesman told me not to expect delivery until mid-May, and I was fine with that, but from what has been posted here, it looks like it may be sooner. My only hold-up seems to be exterior color choice (billet silver).

I just want to add, I'm surprised about the comments here about people have a poor experience with dealers. My experience has been first rate. From my initial visit to test drive the '13 GC, to the discovery of the updated '14 (which the sales manager alerted me to), and the subsequent negotiations, my dealer has worked with me in a fair and conscientious manner. I bought my wife's '08 Compass from the same dealer, and her experiences with their service department was one of the things that brought me to them in the first place. So, I guess dealer experience can vary, and to paint all Jeep and Chrysler dealers in a bad light would be a huge mistake. Having said that, I've had some exceptionally bad experiences with other dealers, and also great experiences with other dealers. It's all about people, after all that is what a dealership is, people working with people. If you treat everyone like crap, you're not going to stay in business.

I just test drove a Black Overland with Black interior..Wow, so much better than my Trailblazer. The vehicle was as quiet driving down the highway at 70 as my wife's 2011 Sonata. Transmission was nice and smooth, could only hear when it changed gears. I have to get use to the bigger front end compared to my TB. The seats felt very nice compared to my TB. I love the leather that was in there, was soft compared to others. The front headlights didn't bother me at all. My wife thought the 8.4N was a little overwhelming but she has never seen anything like it or played with it. The brushed gold of the interior isn't anywhere close to what pictures show, it is actually really nice. Makes the vehicle more of a warm feeling. Overall, I can't wait to put in my order and get one!!

To be honest, I didn't really look that hard at the wood or touch it. I was more in awe about everything else. The dealer was laughing that I knew more about the Jeep than he did and called us all crazy..lol

Edit: My wife said he touched it and only thing she said thought it had a lot of lacquer on it..Take that for what it is worth.

I test drove a Sport a few months back. Honestly its not as nice as you would think. Turbo lag, very thin steering wheel, no heated steering wheel, no HID lights and still near $50k. Not worth it at all. I love my 2011 Overland HEMI and will like the new Summit HEMI even more.

I am of the same opinion. I test drove a new Sport and was not impressed with that vehicle.

Still waiting for some to pop up around here to take a test drive.

If they keep shoving that CRD back, I maybe in the same boat as the Explorer Sport guy (which would be bitter and very disappointing).

Right now it's bumping up against my drop dead date to take delivery.

I was counting on a mid-May delivery, now it's looking more like a mid June/early July delivery.
