My wife asked the same question about the floor mats. The dealer stated "That's what we have a good detailer for, don't worry about it." I just laughed.

#3,123 ·
Leasing Question... Per Milous, our Overland is due to arrive on Monday at the dealer. We have not yet negotiated a final price with our dealer. We are going to be leasing. Does anyone have any idea of what I can expect to pay monthly for a vehicle with $47k sticker. We are planning on $1000 out of pocket with taxes of 8.75% rolled into the payment with 12k miles per year at 36 months ?? ANY help would be appreciated.

#3,129 ·
Yes, that was me that posted that. My local dealer sent me lease residuals for a '14 Overland V6 4x4 this week (15k miles/year). Check my post history for the full spread but the 36mo. was 49% (yikes)! I'd figure at 12k it's be 50-51%.

He said new rates should come out today (new month) but I haven't looked into it.

#3,131 ·
50% residuals would be absurdly low. The residual for the 2013 Limited in Feb was 53% for 15k miles. If the residual for the 2014 is similar with the same interest rate (1.45%), I'm going to be able to get mine for $544/month inclusive of taxes and fees. That would be awesome - and I actually expect the residuals to be better than that when it's time for me to take delivery.

I did notice that the optional cd player in the arm rest..Wow, very little room in there once you have that. The USB/cigerette are there was some room.

#3,139 ·
Yeah I hesitated with that option, but eventually talked myself out of the CD player because of that reason. But with all the other music options that I've never had in a vehicle, I think I'll be okay.

#3,140 ·
I found this website through a previous post. I don't know how accurate they are though. I usually base calculations off what's provided on the Edmunds.com forum for that vehicle but I don't think I've seen any numbers for the '14's yet. This link is for the Laredo trim, but just select what trim you're looking for. For the Laredo at least, they seem to be better than the 2013's! I was looking at the '13 with a residual of only around 53% with 12k miles...

I really hope that the crd is available Tuesday, I want to order one but can't even get a price until then.

I'd just like to pass on my personal opinion about all the comments about JGC colors, inside and out. Everyone will, of course, have their own favorites, and some colors that strike them as fugly. But I have to say, every '14 JGC I've seen is a work of art, no matter what color. It's a beautiful, and extremely functional vehicle. And to paraphrase, I wouldn't kick any one of them out of my driveway!

I'm in San Diego, talking with local Jeep dealers (6 or 7 within 30 minutes of me), and they are kind of freaked about the current 2014 color offerings. With endless sun, many buyers want a light color. But that's not what Jeep is offering.

White is love/hate -- and a choice of just one! For everyone else, what's left? No one I talked with thinks "cashmere" (beige?) will sell on a Jeep; they have trouble selling it on a minivan. Same with Billet because it is quite dark (battleships are lighter). There's always demand for the bright silver that is perpetually popular because it is stylish and light to keep interior cool, but not available for 2014. They think "no silver" will eliminate JCG 2014 for many buyers. True Blue is dark. The cherry red for me is still too dark. All the other colors are variations of black. The mystery color is Pacific Blue, but no one knows what is or when it will be available (it will be the third bluish color option for 2014).

That leaves...nothing that will seem light enough for Southern California sunshine, especially for what is often declared to be the Number One car market in the country. And I spend a lot of time in Arizona, even sunnier. Odd and frustrating!

The mystery color is Pacific Blue, but know one knows what is or when it will be available (it will be the third bluish color option for 2014).

That leaves...nothing that will seem light enough for Southern California sunshine, especially for what is often declared to be the Number One car market in the country. Odd and frustrating!
Agree with your analysis on the poor color selections available on the 2014s. Main reason why we chose the Overland model even though the Summit was the frontrunner. Still, upon physical inspection on dealer lot found most colors too dark, and decided on Billet Silver. Yes, San Diego is sunny, (resident for 2 yrs.), but Arizona brilliant sunshine for 300+ days and 82 degrees today, for example, makes a light color almost mandatory.
White has no definition in the sunshine and vehicles appear amorphous, but very popular for the sedan driving retiree/snowbird crowd. Three pair of eyes carefully looked at a Billet Silver Wrangler and Chrysler cars/minivan in dealer lot, in sun and shade. In our opinion, not really dark as you mention, and close enough to the Bright Silver of previous years., just a tad "grayer".

Physical inspection is a must, imo, but here's some pics of a 2014 Billet Silver SRT8:

Just came back from dealer and placed order for 2014 Overland V6 Black exterior, Indigo interior with Advanced Tech Package and ORAII.

Unfortunately the dealer was NOT able to put the order through as Tech Package was grayed out (he showed it to me). He said he should be able to put that order through on Tuesday (I would imagine that's due to new allocation). Should I be worried? I want Tech package (tech geek here). Will this delay my order? Is there some kind of shortage?

The sequence in which Jeep builds their vehicles seems to have very little to do with who ordered first, so don't fret. If you let a delay change what you order, you'll be happy the day it arrives, and kick yourself in the butt every day for years to come.

Jeep doesn't even seem to give preference to sold orders. The dealers around me are starting to get '14s in. Almost all the VINs are higher than mine. It's funny, since back in 1981 when the international 17 digit vin was established, the last 5 or 6 digits were supposed to be the order in which they were built.

So order what you want when you can, and enjoy it for a long time.

Yikes, been over at the "Features/Changes" thread and hopped back over here to check if the CRD build date was moved up, now see that it's MOVED BACK!!??? Any news why this is so? At this rate, when can one expect to see one at a dealer? I may order one sight unseen, but I sure would like to drive one first! Guess I'll have to coax the 03 Cummins a few more months...... Any news on when Pacific Blue becomes available to see/order????? Milous?

i was hoping to test drive one as well, but i'm going to take the words from those that reviewed and test drove them and that the crd will be responsive enough. i've gone the hemi route, but need more mpg and i don't think the v6 will be peppy enough. now, if we could just place an order for the crd....:sleepy:

Yup, I'll probably whip by the big dealer in Houston this week, their website shows an inventory of over 50 (mostly brilliant black and white), drive a gas V6 and at least give the wife the feel of the interiors....then the push to see how far under invoice I can order one for, IF the CRD is in the ordering mode!! But mama really wants a lighter blue vehicle....

is tuesday the 5th still the magic date for supposedly being able to order a crd?

Well at least I am seeing the dates of production now. They went from March 25th to March 18th to April 22nd. I need to call the dealer and cancel the order; oh well, better luck in the fall... At least I will have it by next May's(2014's) trip. Time to get the car dolly fixed.

For those who have taken delivery of their MY2014, has anyone experienced an odor in the passenger cabin at idle or low speed? It is a sour smell almost like mildew but not always there and goes away when you get up to highway speed. Noticed this from the moment I drove off the lot. I have less than 200 miles on the new Jeep so thinking it might just be something temporary?

The one I test drove was quite smelly. It smelled like a combination of the oils and protective coatings, bar code stickers, etc burning off the hot parts and the off gassing of the interior adhesives and plastics. If its like any other no miles car, it will go away after a while.

I read the article about Chrysler having to rehire the bums they had fired after catching them smoking dope and drinking beer on break. Seems they worked in the plant making Grand Cherokees - great !!! That concerns me. Does anyone else feel that way ?

Also, while the hiring of 1250 new workers to make the 8 speed transmission is a positive step for the economy, I'm not sure I want to have a Jeep assembled with a trans produced by newbies. For those of us with GC's in the "process", that seems like a possibility - I don't like it.
