2014 Grand Cherokee side molding /door dings

Recently purchased a 2014 GC Limited and am very concerned about door dings. As you all know they did away with the chrome body molding on the 2014 models. Since Jeep currently doesn't make a body molding I found an after market molding that I think is totally functional and looks pretty good. (Took a few photos) I tested it with a car and mini van and both of the doors hit the molding first. However the molding did not protect it from the rear car door. The door hit the body above the molding first. Might not protect your doors from every vehicle but it does make me rest a little easier knowing I have some protection. If anyone is interested this is the site I purchased them from. I ordered them pre-painted to match my Jeep. https://sportwing.com/HM-CHEROKEE-14...y-Side-Molding

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee side molding /door dings

There is a thread about side mouldings here

Chrome Side Molding on a 2014

and here

2014 grand cherokee body molding

Both similar but different options.
You can buy the MY11-MY13 to fit. You will need to remove the current GRAND CHEROKEE side badges for them to work.
the ones I was thinking of getting that go above the crease line will be useless as thy sit behind the edge.
I am putting side steps on which will stop some door, but be too low for others.

These are the ones your ordered correct? - http://www.dawn-ent.com/vehicles/jee...HEROKEE-14.htm

YES, those are the ones I ordered but what is shown on the website is not exactly what I got. The ones pictured do not have rounded edges on the front and back. They also do not have the indentation on the ones for the rear doors.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee side molding /door dings

If you park by other cars your gonna get door dings regardless if there is body moulding or not. I say just park your car smart and dont risk it. I always pick my parking spots very carefully by always hugging a end spot next to a curb, or parking far enough out where no one parks next to me. Knock on wood but it has not failed me yet in my 17 years of driving without getting a single door ding on any vehicle I have owned :-)

Thank you for your pictures and comments. I ordered these today as they look somewhat factory and It still looks like a 2014! Can't wait to get them installed!

I actually think they look pretty good and they blend right in. Let me know what you think after you have them installed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee side molding /door dings

I have used these on several of my cars and have been satisfied with the way they look and protect.

I got my side molding, it looks great! Unfortunately it's way too cold to install it. I may have to use a hair dryer to heat up the metal since I don't have a heat gun. Or maybe a trip to Palm Springs!

Damn those actually look pretty good, very factory. Normally I hate "add on" door moldings but I like these.

I park just like you but sometimes you just can't seem to find the right place to park and are forced to park in a regular spot. A couple of years ago somebody parked their pld beater next to my 325i and absolutely banged a dent into my door. I mean they did it like they meant it. I went apeshit on the car. Put my knee into every panel just out of temper. Of course, it was a beater and the asshole probably didn't care.
I ened up having the dentvremoved for $75.00 by one of those dent doctor guys.
