So I take it that you were at the dealer show.

Was the final product there?

What do you mean the LED lights were like the 300s? Was it the C-shape or the jeweled look of them or just the integration of them in the light housing?

Is the rotary dial exclusive to ram only?

If you can answer some of these things.

-Thanks

Well, the MY14 Summit will have power-folding mirrors (EDIT: The MY13 Summit already has that feature as well - just to make sure I don't confuse anybody..). However, I don't know if they will fold automatically (or can be set in such manner) when the car is locked.

Milous already gave us a hint that the 360 degree camera will come in MY2015 - but we don't yet know on which models.

After finding this forum, I just stopped the order of my new GC Overland MY2013!!

The car dealer didn't react that well... He said that the new trans will happen only in 2015 and that however the next model will be worse than the actual one (!!!).

I ended the call telling him that January is very close and I wait for an official announcement of Chrysler Group during Detroit show.

Any confirmation that MY2014 will be delivered by February/March 2013?

Thank you,
Roberto

Roberto,

Sales clowns are the last people that are given information on the next year's models. If they were smart and tried to do a good job they would educate themselves about all of their vehicles as well as the competition. Don't trust him...trust this site. They haven't been wrong as of yet. The guy named "Milous" is on top of things.
I can't believe that he actually said that the next model will be worse than this one. Does that mean the current model isn't any good either?
UGH!

Yeah, as much as I'd love to wait for the refresh with the LEDs, 8-speed (despite the fact that it's an unknown, and it probably will have some first-MY "issues", though these most likely could be resolved in a software update), etc., WK2Jeeps.com right now is saying that production won't start until late January 2013, so I probably wouldn't be able to get my hands on one until at least mid-late February.

Me being in pretty much desperate need for a car I don't think I can wait that long. And I'd hate to wait that long, only for the improvements to be not really that awesome of an improvement and come at an additional cost (still don't know what the MSRP will be yet, particularly on the base 4x4 Laredo).

Still hoping if I do get the 2013 that the 2014's LEDs will essentially be plug-and-play though.

I would not expect "1st MY issues" with the trans. It's not a new trans. ZF is good stuff. I had their 6 speed on my 06 BMW ( a first MY of the E90) and it was silky smooth flawless. When I got a 2010 BMW it had a GM sourced trans which was terrible in comparison, on essentially the same vehicle.

I'd hold out on buying a 2013. Unless you buy a 2013 when it is side by side with a 2014 for big discounts.

Yeah why is it people are acting like the 2014 is a complete redesign and saying it will have "1st model year issues"??

The 2014 is going to be the 4th year into production of the WK2 and the transmission is nothing new at all. Just newly installed in the Grand Cherokee. I would not hesitate for two seconds on buying a 2014 because of possible issues. It will be a great Jeep and I still can't wait to see one without all that camo!!

The other thing I forgot is the 2014 is also getting the new Powernet electrical architecture – another area where there's a possibility for some first-MY bugs that need to be worked out. (If they did exist I'm sure these could probably be solved in a software update too.)

Admittedly, part of this is simply me trying to make myself feel better about not being able to hold out for the 2014s. ;)

You should not hold out ..I think you will be much happier come early next year when you see all the members posting their Jeeps.
I want one right now also but...4-5 months ill have to bite the bullet.for a better product..IMO

This doesn't make sense. Not sure why Durango tail lights would be used since the GC is going with LED tail lights. Unless you mean the refreshed 2014 Durango. And then it becomes questionable for the direct sharing of exterior parts--probably not the best idea.

I could buy that the shape of the LEDs within the headlight assembly will be the same as in the 300 (C-shaped). I would doubt the overall housing shape will change as far as the fender and hood areas are concerned, but the lower or inner borders could since we know the grille and front fascia will be getting updates.

All in all, just more reason to await the next round of spy photos or the unveiling in Detroit.

I like everything on the new Charger except the led tail lights all the way across the back. It looks a kid got happy with some rope Christmas lights and taped them to daddy's new toy. Thankfully from the spy pic Jeep isn't doing that. Only car I really like led's on are the Audi's. They have added them tastefully, hopefully Jeep does the same thing.

As I understand it the ZFs for the new GC are to be made in a new factory in the US, not in the existing factory. That has a lot of potential for issues in setting up the new line, not to forget the supply chain. I would wait for year 2 myself. If it was coming from the euro factory I'd probably be more positive - not because the euro manufacturing is necessarily better, just the possible problems on a new factory.

I wish we could just see the damn thing already lol. Im very excited about the new LED tail lights, I just hope they dont look like those ugly cheap style that they have on the Chrysler mini-vans, and dodge journey or whatever it is. You know just the circle design looks cheap to me. Something more fancy would be great.

I saw one of these Land Rover Evoques on the road today. It was behind me in the lane on the left. I couldn't tell what it was for sure until it pulled up next to me. I think this front end looks Ford explorer-like which is why I think the new grill on the GC is being changed. I think they're trying to stay "trendy". This one looked really sharp but I understand why people are thinking that Jeep is going away from their truck type roots with a smaller grill "smiley faced shape". Also, the back end/lift gate area slopes down in the back so this vehicle loses quite a bit of cargo space. IMO it's not the best practical design for an SUV/crossover thingy. I think the new grill is one of the biggest question marks of the re-fresh. We'll have to wait and see once the camo comes off to be sure how it'll blend. It could be a really nice look or it could be a huge mistake.

Whole lot of misinformation in this thread about the head and taillamps.

WRONG.

Tails do not AT ALL look like the Durango.
They are similar to the existing tails yet very very different. (angles, etc)

Headlights are......ehh... again, WHICH style headlight are we talking about here? ;)
