Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee spy pictures

If I had to guess I would say that the LED strip is going to be similar to how they did it on the 2012 SRT8. I think I would prefer it integrated into a newer style headlight, but im not so sure that's gonna happen. I would LOVE to see LED turn signals in the front headlights, but thats another thing I doubt will happen. Very few cars have those these days, but they just look so amazing. Like all the new high end BMW's those instant on/off amber LED's just stand out and look cool.
I do however like the look of the smaller projector style fog lights.

So im guessing the headlights are going to be identical, a slight bumper and grill revision, with Jeep compass style fogs and the LED DRL's near the fogs like the current SRT8.

side by side view..... Jeep mini van comes to mind. They went from offroad prowness to soccor mom styling.

Chrysler Jeep design engineering is out of touch...

Side by side photos, but completely different vertical angles and distance.

The changes under the camo are pretty much indistinguishable and I can guarantee you are minor. A mid cycle refresh is limited to plastic changes (i.e. bumper and grill) and not sheet metal or positioning of things like headlights. The grill is only slightly shorter in height if you look where the seam in the camo is in relation to the bottom of the headlights. The difference may be to address euro pedestrian safety regulations. The fog lights have been switched to projector style, and it looks like the bottom black plastic portion under the main bumper may be pushed out a bit. We won't know more until the camo starts coming off.

This is similar to the refreshes that occured mid cycle on the WJ and original WK. Without a second look you wont even notice them.

That was best photo comparison I could find, however I'm not sure about indistinguishable.

This reminds me of the ZJ refresh when they made the front grill opening larger and notched the front bumper to accomodate the opening. In this case the opposite - the designers are reducing the grill opening and bringing the bumper up with a slight convex line to fill in the space - probably for aerodynamics and euro pedestrian standards like you mentioned.

I never liked what they did to the ZJ ... IMO the original was the best design.

Volkswagen has done the same to the Touareg but they can get away with it due to the horizontal lines used in the front grill. Jeep having the iconic vertical lines in the front grill with this large bumper makes it look mini-van....

Time will tell ... I will probably order a 2013 for a contingency plan. I wish they would leave the front and rear alone and just install an 8-speed trans, a transfer case similar to the Select-Trac NP 242 and Jeep would have a winner.

Looks like the front will be more smooth, something along the lines of the Compass. I like my 2012, but I might pick up a 2014 Limited for my wife next fall.

Wonder what the new 20" wheels look like? I seem to remember wheel design always changed for the 3rd year of a new design.

I knew I saw those projector foglights somewhere before, that's where it was!

Okay after studying the pictures I have noticed that what Jeep has done is open up the lower grille opening to give you a trapezoidal shape in the lower opening kinda like the compass. So basically the new front end will be a variation of what is on the current 2012 Jeep compass.

I heard that Compass will be major change in MY13 or MY14, so they must have had left over parts.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee spy pictures

I can see how they are incorporating that stuff from the compass. I definately dont like how the compass looks, but I have my faith in Jeep that the 2014 Grand Cherokee will be amazing looking just like the 2011-2013. I will say that I do like the grill on the compass thats body colored with a touch of chrome just how the 2012 Jeep SRT8 is.

Woohooo its about time lol. My wifes little Honda Accord has LED tail lights from 7 years ago LOL. Took Jeep long enough to catch up. Cant wait to see what they will look like. Obviously same size and shape light assembly, but as far as what they do with the LED design and shape has me very interested. The back end of the new Grand Cherokee's was the only part of it that I thought needed just a little something more to set it apart. Hopefully this will be it! Cant wait!
