Good example of why I would never buy a used vehicle.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Stuck in Snow

He could've been out so easily if he had just backed out to the clearer patch, turned the wheel left and gone forward. Even with stock tires and going up that hill. Moron.

Painful to watch. So, that opening and closing of doors, is that some kind of new snow recovery technique?

I think so. Just like when you do UConnect upgrade, they ask you to open and close the door, wait for the ligths to go out ... Maybe he was doing Uconnect upgrade as well at the same time and he got the message "Vehicle Phone Requires Service" .. that would make me angry ... no doubt!

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Stuck in Snow

rofl what a moron. Trying to go up a not-insignificant hill on ice with summer tires - pure win. It would have taken me less than 10 seconds to get out of that spot by backing up on the ice-less center road and then proceeding forward.

But I cannot complain, stupid people make the rest of us look better.

OK now people are just flying to conclusions. Where or how do you figure SUMMER tires ? I think we all agree that the guy is full of win and we would all theoretically do more better !

But if you pay attention to the car, he probably has a 2014 Limited with the 18 inch package with P265/60R18 Michelin Latitude Tour. Which may not be the best tires ever, but they are NOT summer tires. Let's stick to the facts.

In my humble, upstate NY driver's opinion...if it ain't a snow tire, it's a summer tire. Latitudes are no exception!

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Stuck in Snow

Greetings,

Some basic concepts for parking in the snow and other factors.
  1. Know the type of snow you are dealing with. (Soft, frozen, wet, fluffy, etc...)
  2. Know the ground clearance of the vehicle you are in.
  3. Know the type of tires you are driving with.

After reviewing our subject here in the field of snow, why did he park here in the first place? From the video you can tell the snow was a couple of inches high, as in right at or above the ground clearance of his GC. Did he become over confident that the GC could get out like butter? The snow does look soft. Who knows what went through this guy head. What we have here, is to many driver errors, including not thinking.

If he did have the what Jeep calls the the correct all purpose tire, Michelin Latitude , it did not help the cause when started to plow the snow by turning the wheel to the max and lost any bite. To begin with, that tire does not have a deep tread and does not evacuate the snow or water build up affectively.

Never panic. A little rocking motion (back and forth action) and small turns on the wheel is the best thing to do.

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Stuck in Snow

Resurrection Award.

The folks at WeatherNationTV.com posted this video on their website with the title of " Angry man from Texas stuck in Colorado snow".

Now WE all know this happened several years ago, and I think in NYC? I dislike the folks and the advertising full WeatherChannel, but these guys are trying to pass old news as current information.

I would have left a comment, but I'm not on the Facebook. So if anyone feels like letting them know...

Something on the web is NOT true? The Internet must be broken.
