Have you ever heard of six sigma as a goal where only one in a million is defective? The V8 data is not good but not absolutely horrible either, but I certainly would not brag about it.
Its not a 1 in 3 chance of a problem. This is not a scientific poll its an internet poll where people that have an issue are more likely to vote. You need to take that into account when looking at the totals. The V-8 numbers are very good your always going to have that one or two people that hate everything.

Re: 2014 JGC Transmission Survey

Looks like the numbers are settling in to a pattern. I would definitely say the V6 has some issues that need addressed with a software update. As to this being an unacceptable problem, only if it is not addressed, and I believe a fix is being worked on as we post. I mentioned before that my '08 Enclave had a very similar problem, except that probably 75% of owners were very upset with the shifting of that new 6 speed. GM fixed the problem. It took quite a while, but the fix was good. This is a pretty complicated marriage of hardware and software, so I hope Chrysler doesn't send out a half baked solution. I'm willing to let them take their time and get it right. Of course, I'm pretty happy with the way mine shifts. And reading about the different problems people seem to be having, a software update might not be everyone's solution.

The entire Poll is around what JP had said there... It is a sampling of an overly negative group, so comparison between the two Transmissions is the only truely valid data. Again JP is correct, this is not scientific at all, but it does show that the problem does not suddenly materialize with time for everyone. I know many of the people who have said that they are very happy with their V6 have lots of miles on them.

This is not even to mention that I am not personally driving and comparing the performance of each transmission myself, it is all personal opinion and perception but that is what I wanted to see.

I am very aware of six sigma, I am not just an automotive guy

I have incited your Buick Enclave issues many times, that actually went on for years and included the Acadia all the way from 2007 plus the traverse in 2008 and was not solved until 2009 I believe? All of them were a problem just not everyone noticed (don't know how you couldn't)

The second quote I pulled, yes you are correct, there are a number of these that will not be fixed by a software update.

.... Sorry for hacking up your comment

At first we didn't like the Eco mode on the tranny. But over time the transmission has smoothed out and we really don't know it's in Eco now or try to change it every time.

I'd say this new transmission is great. We have over 5000 miles.

+1. But I really didn't like my transmission much until I reset it via the negative ground removal technique - now at over 6K miles, it's buttah!

Re: 2014 JGC Transmission Survey

Question 2 seems to be one place with big difference between V6 and V8 so far. But how do we interpret the 2nd question. "V6 - Mostly pleased, I turn off ECO or run in Sport to get best results."

Answering #2 can just be a function of lower power V6 + eco mode which is designed to for fuel economy so answering #2 can be "I need more power" and nothing to do with bad trans shifting work-around?

When I wrote the questions I wanted to have a line in the sand of "generally pleased" or "generally not pleased". I agree to an extent that the ECO thing has a lot to do with personal preference.

I also wanted there to be a split between "this is amazing" and "this is pretty good". It allows me later to qualify groups across engines and just how happy people are overall.

Again this is just what the members think and should be taken with a grain of salt but I am surprised the number of people overall that can say "best I ever owned" in the V8... that is pretty awesome.

So far it looks like...

27% of V6 owners are happy (out of 51)
74% of V8 owners are happy (out of 35)

Well "very happy" yes.... I would consider those who answered the #2 (or number 5) to be generally happy but I would also say those people will be the ones most likely to slide over to "very happy" with a program update.

Anybody disagree with my thinking on that who answered "generally pleased"?

Re: 2014 JGC Transmission Survey

There are too many red flags on several forums to throw the dice on a $40K+ 2014 JGC. Best bet appears to wait a few months in the hope Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep gets its act together.
