I didn't say the poll was useless, in fact I said it had a very specific use. You have a tendency of putting words in people's mouths.

Not only that, but your always going to have that 1 or 2 people that can't be satisfied these are people that just hate everything no matter what it is. The V-6 doesn't do all that bad, but most of those will probably be taken care of with a software update, except of course those one or two haters.
I did some research on the 8 speed V8 transmission before I Pulled the trigger and bought the Jeep soon as I found out that it was being outsourced and used in some other manufacturers vehicles it was a go. If Chrysler was producing them I would have waited a year. Not saying that's why the V6 people are having problems but it did play into my decision making.

You know what other use it had Jacko.... That the majority of V6 owners are actually pretty pleased with their transmissions, which is not what one would have guessed from the other threads here. Yes far from perfect, but better than expected based on the comments I have read about the problems in other threads.

You agree?

This 8 speed is great My SRT is smooth with a really great feedback feel in SPORT mode. Thru the BlackHills it was awesome, with a nice transition between all gears. My sons '14 Overland 5.7 is the same. photoMA28807387-0003.JPG

I would agree! With all of the hate posts on the 8 speed I thought there would be more dislikes than likes. I think some people are having a hard time accepting the fact that the majority of owners are happy with it...Not saying they don't have a legitimate problem but it's not as common as some hoped. The 14 JGC's are becoming very popular in my home town and I have talked to several people about them and there was not one complaint about the tranny.

Absolutely, every person I meet who has one says it is by far the best vehicle they ever owned! My main motivation for starting the Poll was I had driven so many and never seen a problem, so I wanted to get an idea of the numbers.

Also totally agree, there are definitely some people having issues and I do hope they get them resolved!

Absolutely! I'd actually like to drive one with the shifting problems so I can see what all the fuss is about. I can't even remember the last time I took mine out of eco mode.

Re: 2014 JGC Transmission Survey

I'd like to add, if you want to drive something that can't get out of its own way, find one of those early Lambda platform GM CUVs with the original tranny mapping. Now that was a really crappy experience, and it was pretty much fixed with a firmware update.

Re: 2014 JGC Transmission Survey

The 8sp transmission in my 2014 Limited V6 is the roughest downshifting transmission in any automatic I've ever owned. The downshifting in my old 2011 Xterra PRO-4x was much smoother.

I have to admit though...after 3400 miles the tranny seems to be downshifting smoother as time goes on (and after a battery re-set awhile back), but every now and then coming up to a stop, 4th and 2nd gear can be rough.

If I had the opportunity I could likely tell you what it was. I used to be able to feel the difference between a grabby clutch plate and too high of pressure from a solenoid.

As for the old Acadia/Enclave/traverse... Terrible. Was at a store that bought back more than 1.

Re: 2014 JGC Transmission Survey

I am amazed at how low many people set the bar here.

99.9+% of drivers should not have a problem with their tranny. These can be built like clock work (another example of a well functioning machine from the past).

The concept that most tranny's work well is a ridiculously low standard. It is amazing that many of you are willing to accept such a large percentage of trannys on the road essentially being rejects as an acceptable standard.

We did not test a single tranny here. We have no idea whether any of this is personal perception or faults or????

If we use your method of calculating, we only have one reported transmission replacement in the entire forum and as there have been over 50,000 produced well that would be well under .1 percent actually scientifically proven cases.
