Re: 2014 Limited - Check Engine Light on

Did it happen close to a fill up? Probably just some gas it the Jeep doesn't agree with.

Re: 2014 Limited - Check Engine Light on

Perhaps the OP is like me; he'd just rather wait and visit the dealership only when absolutely necessary as it winds up taking at least 1/2 day of time. Plus, if my vehicle doesn't go to the dealer then it can't possibly be damaged by any of their employees. Mine hasn't had to go back to a dealer yet, and if (hint, hint) Willx would post the software update to fix the ABS module problem as he has the Uconnect updates, it wouldn't have to go to the dealer for that recall work. I know, I know; that software update has to be done via Witech - but couldn't we all go in on one Witech unit to pass around amongst ourselves??

Re: 2014 Limited - Check Engine Light on

I also avoid the dealer as I spend more time arguing with them that there's a problem since they usually just act like the look at it then call me at the end of the day to tell me they didn't find a problem. (aka a whole wasted day)

Maybe because I am not a puling wanker helpless crybaby who can't wipe my own hind quarters without wanting dealer service for the TP dispenser after having someone else check it for softness?

If you know what the trouble is, and you know just how serious it is or is not, and you don't feel like wasting the tech's time until they CAN do something about it, there are alternatives besides setting down in the middle of the floor, kicking your feet in the air, screaming your lungs out, and turning blue.

But, some folks prefer the drama.

I would suggest having the IP/ABS flash done when you have time, and if you haven't already tightened up the ground, I'd do that as well. Your call if you have the dealer do the tighten or if you have a torque wrench that can read in/lbs

Oil changes, tire rotations, simple interior fixes...I agree. I've worked on my own cars since I was 16, so I'm no stranger to auto repairs.

But possible computer issues, A/C, electrical issues or the replacement of an expensive part if it's still under warranty...nope, straight to the dealership, especially if there's a chance of my warranty being voided if I dick with it.

IMO it's not being "entitled" if I didn't cause the problem in the first place...that's Jeep's responsibility for 3 yrs, 36,000 miles.

Exactly, I didnt want to have to drop my car off and find a ride to and from work for a problem that was likely nothing. A simple reset of the check engine light and I saved myself a wasted day at the dealer.

This is the part I don't understand...the wasted day at the dealership.

Everytime I've dropped my 2014 GC off at the dealership for work performed (ABS module, replace drivers seat back, reflashes, tire balances/rotation) I've always been given a loaner (3 so far). I've never waited for more than 15 minutes at the Service area...never...and I don't have the special service contract for loaners.

Unfortunately the decision to have loaners available is a dealer decision (unless you've struck a deal with Jeep). Mine is one of those that does not have loaners, man I wish they provided loaners - was so nice to roll in, hand keys, get loaner, drive way... now its a whole coordination effort.

Re: 2014 Limited - Check Engine Light on

I have an extended service contract which includes a loaner. I also have the P0456 code, a bluetooth scanner, and common sense. A 'very small leak in EVAP Emm Cntrl Sys', hmmm.

First thing I'm going to do is put some silicone spray on the gas cap threads.
