2014 Limited Headlights

Hi,

I'm not sure if its me or the headlights themselves but hey seem very dim. I'm coming from a 2011 Laredo and those stock lights blow these new ones out of the water. I've never had projector type headlights so maybe its me. Anybody else seem to think they are a bit dim?

They are utterly useless. You have to either put in HIDs or silverstars in if you want to see. Silverstars run about $40 and from my experience have to be replaced every year. Hids run at least $70 and will last a long time but are technically illegal.

Thumbs up Re: 2014 Limited Headlights

Although I have the Limited, it has the Lux II Pkg which provides the same headlights as the Overland and the Summit.

My husband and I are nearing Medicare age, wear glasses and hate driving in unfamiliar places at night.

***We love the headlights*** the brightness of the lights, the way they follow curves, the auto bright & dim - no complaints unless the condensation is a problem. We had it one time.

Would never buy a vehicle wihtout HIDs. Too bad Jeep forces us to spend $4K on Limited [lux. package] to get them. Previous years they were standard on Limited.
By the way , people who own other makes are all complaining about useless projector beam headlights.

Re: 2014 Limited Headlights

Is it easy to upgrade to the HID's? Is there a how-to thread?

Silverstar ultras make no difference at all on low beams. High beans are a different story. Also the fog lights work well with the silverstar ultras

Re: 2014 Limited Headlights

Try the Philips Crystal Vision (CV). Went from Silverstars to CV's on my Jetta, very bright and clear.

Had a pair of them in my 2009 WK (high beam) and they lasted barely a year (~15,000 miles); both failed within a few minutes of each other. Went with Philips UltraVision, and they work OK. As far as actual light output claims of various Halogen bulbs, I trust none of them.

It is fairly easy, it took me a little under a half hour last time I did it (I had to do it 3 times...) as long as you get a relay harness and the error eliminators you will be fine and only have to do it once.

My fusion had projectors and halogens. The first thing I did when I got the car was put hid's in it.

Re: 2014 Limited Headlights

I just bought a limited, only got a couple hundred miles on it. This does not sound good, I have not even driven it in the dark yet. With the other issues I have already had, I will not be suprised if the headlights suc.

Re: 2014 Limited Headlights

I'm going to save up the 4K needed to get the HID's. I've had them on previous Volvos and it's hard to go back to Halogens after having them. It's too bad the Limited's dont come with them as standard as in previous years.

Some car makers allow you to add the HID's as a standalone option for around $750, not bundled together in a 4K package which is stupid.
