2014 Limited Windshield

Hi all, I noticed a crack on the passenger side top right of my windshield today, not a sign of a chip, called the dealer up here in Canada they quoted me $700 to replace it!! Not covered by manufacturers warranty any one else had this problem?
Got another quote from a local glass company for $400 fitted
Had one guy who owns a older jeep GC mention his went and it was due to the weather surely that wouldn't cause it?

Do you have glass break on your car insurance? that's how broken glass is often paid for minus the deductable

Re: 2014 Limited Windshield

Yeah I have it but my deductible is $1000!
Looks like speedy glass is the only option, I was more worried if it would have been a cold weather thing that would cause this to happen
Hit -40 here over the weekend but still. Ant ever see that being a issue

if glass is installed wrong and is touching the metal body of the car in any places temperature expansion and contraction can cause pressures and make it break. that happened to my dad and glass repairman explained how it happens to him. that said you would have to show that this is the case with the point at where it is touching the metal body, manufacturer should cover if that were even the case. good luck

Are you sure about this $1K deductible on windshield crack? Usually if you have this option on your policy, it's a $50.00 deductible...

As for the cold, it could happen...Glass retracts when temperature vary at extremes...If boiling water is pored to de-ice would be an example...and like Silvermax said, it could be a factory issue which you would need to prove. If you can get a dealer to look at it closer, that no impact is shown and try to have them pass it on factory warranty... good luck! let us know what happens...

Depends completely on the policy. I have a $100 deductible through State Farm, and if I ever file a claim to get cracked glass replace, I pay the full deductible.

If you have the Luxury package with your Limited (HID/LED headlights, ventilated front seats, etc.), you have rain-sensing wipers. The rain sensors don't like cheap glass, and you may have to find OEM glass or equivalent, meaning more expensive (but better).

Maybe a chance for you to upgrade to the laminated windshield too.

Ok, $50 - $100.00 deductible for the glass break coverage, but $1000.00 for the windshield coverage? Might as well not have the option in your policy... c'mon now...makes no sense...unless you drive a $200K+ car with a $10K windshield! IMHO...

So OP, check closely with your policy, maybe you have an option for lower deductible on windshield cracks.... good luck!

Re: 2014 Limited Windshield

Same thing happened to me, same location, on my 2011 Limited. Warranty covers front and rear glass to 12,000 miles. I specified OEM glass due to rain sensor.

Welshie, that is a great price! However, make 100% sure they are using OEM Mopar glass or else your rain sensor may not work properly! Lots of posts about that issue!
