They're out driving and enjoying their vehicles. They're not sitting at a computer reading forums to find solutions to problems. I suppose I'm remiss in not providing data to True Delta or KBB.com, but then that's all voluntary. I studied statistical analysis back in my college days, and I haven't seen a sample size, or data collection scheme that could give anything but a skewed view of the ownership experience. I know the people that do these polls are honestly trying to put data out there that helps buyers make an informed decision, but by making the sample set a voluntary group, the set of respondents will necessarily be biased. But I would say that if the thought of buying a JGC causes you anxiety, then maybe you should look elsewhere.

I do agree that 80 respondents is insignificant when considering the big picture, but then again, where are the people who should be submitting positive data? Something just isn't right...

We've had ours for 4 months and 5000 miles with no problems at all.... 5000 miles...not one problem..
I read of all the nightmare stories here before buying, didn't see to many positive stories. I just took a chance and hoped for the best. I don't consider myself lucky...I believe I'm in the majority (satisfied owners). One month after we bought it we even took it on a 3000 mile vacation trip when I could have easily taken my very dependable low mile 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I crossed my fingers and hoped I had made the right decision. Well the Jeep didn't let us down and performed flawlessly. Like other people, if I was having problems I would be all over the internet complaining about it to warn others. I haven't had any problems so I don't feel the need to post that anywhere but here.

I hope my experience helps you to make a decision. If you ask me I would just say go for it! On another positive note Jeep just came out with a recall thats gonna resolve a lot of the issues owners have been having... Recall for 2014 Jeeps To Fix Instrument Cluster Issues

Re: 2014 models - what's going on???

Just traded in my Tacoma and picked up a 14 Limited. On paper, I've only owned the SUV for 4 hrs now, but when I got home from the dealer and dinner, I noticed both headlamps are fogged up.

LOL damn it.

I had an issue with the abs light and traction control light popping on randomly. They replaced the abs module and pefect since. I'm not concerned. New model and I bought fairly early. It seems the glitches have been worked out at this point.

I know we got my wife's dream vehicle and that is the only reason she hasn't drove it head on into a tree. Bought it April 1st and it has been to the dealer around 12 to 15 times, I haven't totaled it up to be honest. I know I had a streak of 6 Fridays in a row. Up until this last week nothing major, but the interior is full of rattles you shouldn't have on a brand new vehicle, I don't care what brand. Monday night she went to leave work and the display wouldn't work until she cycled the ignition 4 times. The radio is unusable for the first minute of driving, and on a related note the CD player requires you to get in and eject the CD every time and re-insert it to get it to recognize a CD is in it. The headlights wouldn't come on a few nights ago when I drove it to work, the water pump has been replaced, and while it was in yesterday another 14 was in with the same issue so I know that isn't isolated to just us. If you buy one get the factory Hid's otherwise you will be upgrading the bulbs because the stock lights are horrible. It may sound like we hate it but aside from the issues we love the thing, the mileage is great, the ride is great, it's just all of the little things take it down.

LOL damn it.
This is normal as they are vented housings, not sealed. It'll go away pretty quickly, I've only seen it when I felt like it was really humid or there were pretty decent swings in temperature (had it the other day, stayed for a day, gone now)

Typically, it's human nature to yell loudly when there is a problem and not say much, if anything, when things are great. This is one of the reasons that "real" surveys have to be so carefully planned an engineered. There certainly is value in reading what respondents to the opt-in sites say and then use it to further investigate the matter, but it's not necessarily helpful to make any assumptions directly from that "data".

Even the information in these forums is typically very skewed. While some of us are perfectly happy to wax eloquently about how pleased we are with our vehicles (as I am), there will always be an appearance of "many problems" because a larger percentage of people who do unfortunately experience issues post about them.

Re: 2014 models - what's going on???

My 2012 Overland has been far LESS reliable than my old 2005 Toyota 4Runner.

I was thinking about trading up for a 2014 for the added features, but haven't decided for sure yet because of all the problems reported.

And those saying the numbers on sites like Edmunds & KBB aren't good indicators haven't explained why other brands seem to show accurate data.

BTW, I'm here in Southern California and I can count the number of 2014 WK2s I've seen on the road on ONE HAND, so I wonder where all the ones being sold are at??

Re: 2014 models - what's going on???

I would have worried if there were 2,000 posts by 2,000 different people complaining about similar problems with the JGC. As it is, there are no where near that many dissatisfied owners posting. And if you look carefully, you will see that the small subset of owners with problems tend to post over and over about their dissatisfaction. I certainly don't want to minimize anyone's problems, they can be a real pain in the ass, I know, I bought a 1972 Chevy Vega, so I know what a crappy vehicle can do to your outlook on life. But in the final analysis, the lemons are few, many of the problems that seem to be widespread are being addressed, and I still haven't seen headlines or news stories about large numbers of dissatisfied JGC owners gluing plastic lemons to there vehicles and parking them in front of their dealer.
