Re: 2014 models - what's going on???

They are being sold here. 6 mile round trip to Home Depot and passed 6 other WK2's. It's almost like that everyday. I think they reproduce at night in the woods around here.

Sorry. I thought Billet Silver owners were allowed more leeway.

They did, and the news articles noted that the instrument cluster display could be resolved by turning the vehicle off and on.

Maybe the 2014 1/2 version will have a CTL-ALT-DEL set of buttons?

Or, maybe a BSOD?

Well, you could buy a Porsche and have your engine self destruct and have them tell you tough beans.

You have a few options.
One, if you are nervous about a major problem, good luck with finding a non-problem brand.
Two, if you are nervous about niggling problems, I'd only shop at a dealer you trust, with a good service reputation instead of looking thru three states to get the lowest price.
Three, buy a minivan.

There do appear to be a few common problems. If any of them would cause you to walk away--may be best if you do so.

- V6 8 speed transmission. New code available, dunno if 100%. Also may be owners not used to having dog clutches in their automatic transmission to reduce
losses and increase mileage.

- Instrument Cluster. Can go blank on you. There is a flash in the recall, don't
know effective build dates yet.

- Bogus MIL. If it isn't flashing, keep driving it may just go away.

- UConnect. OK, to be fair, even Microsoft might be embarassed, but you'd have to
decide if some of the phone interop issues or failure to cool your heinie with
the remote start are showstoppers, presuming remote start is legal to use in
your state.

?= thought read somewhere that the Hemi on regular can have driveability issues
and that there's also a pcm flash for that, but don't recall if affects '14

It does appear that despite reports, folks are working on the software issues discovered.

None of them are enough of a bother to me, your mileage may vary.

Have had my '14 SRT since May, was one of the first ones off the line, and is pure joy. Had one error code (evap sensor), which was replaced when I did oil change at 1500 miles, and all is great... Most solid built car I have owned. While uconnect occasionally has a bad morning, everything has been great.

And considering I drive it like I stole it... I amazed how well it is is put together

Why would anyone get an oil change at 1500 miles

Why wouldn't you invoke the lemon law with extreme prejudice? Most states let you lemon after a manufacturer has failed to fix the same issue multiple times -or- if the car has spent n total calendar days in the shop for any reason (n varies from state to state).

Additionally, some states allow you to drop the lemon hammer if the car has an unresolved safety-critical issue after a single unresolved fix.

All I know is that if it were me I would never trust that vehicle, even if they ended up "fixing" it eventually. Best of luck.

Some people prefer to follow the old practice of doing the 1st oil change early. The idea is that engines, during break-in, have higher wear as the friction surfaces mate up. This leaves extra metallic particles in the oil. Most manufacturers claim this isn't necessary....because the motor will last well past the warranty anyways. I say it doesn't hurt and may help if you plan to keep the vehicle 300k miles. It helps my OCD anyways. Lol.

I got all the fluids changed out ... Wanted to do it at 1000 miles... But time got away from me.

Perhaps folklore, but I have always flushed everything on all my new cars...early on. Lots of metal bits and stuff in new trans and engines... And as I bought it and have no idea if another 6.4L will ever be offered, want it to last a long time. Maybe I wasted some money... But the fluids were nice and fresh...

Terrific. If I wanted advice from you on my purchasing decision, I'll ask you. Until then, I'll make up my own mind, thank you very much. Save the condescending attitude for someone else.

I read of all the nightmare stories here before buying, didn't see to many positive stories. I just took a chance and hoped for the best. I don't consider myself lucky...I believe I'm in the majority (satisfied owners). One month after we bought it we even took it on a 3000 mile vacation trip when I could have easily taken my very dependable low mile 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I crossed my fingers and hoped I had made the right decision. Well the Jeep didn't let us down and performed flawlessly. Like other people, if I was having problems I would be all over the internet complaining about it to warn others. I haven't had any problems so I don't feel the need to post that anywhere but here.

I hope my experience helps you to make a decision. If you ask me I would just say go for it! On another positive note Jeep just came out with a recall thats gonna resolve a lot of the issues owners have been having... Recall for 2014 Jeeps To Fix Instrument Cluster Issues

Thanks. That's the kind of feedback I was hoping to read.
