2014 Navigation question - pricing related

We are looking at getting a 2014 GC limited with nav. One dealer told me that there is a $600 additional dealer fee for programming the navigation, no matter what radio you get. The vehicle we located has the 8.4 radio with nav (the $795 radio option). So he is saying i would have to pay 795 for the radio plus 600 in order for the nav to work. Is this correct?

Thanks

Limited has an RA2 as a standart, no way to activate nav on this radio.
If you pay $395 you get 8.4A (RA3). Then you have to pay $600 to the dealer to activate the nav.
If you pay $795 you get the 8.4AN (RA4). It comes with nav, you dont need to pay anything to the dealer.

As you see getting 8.4AN is cheaper and 8.4AN (RA4) has a couple more features than the 8.4A(RA3). Buy it with 8.4AN if you want nav.

Edit: I misinterpret your question slightly . You already found the car you want. You dont need to pay anything to the dealer.

Your dealer said that? Sheesh....the RA4 8.4AN is the factory nav. If the vehicle in question has the lower level RA3 8.4A radio, then yes, the nav has to be dealer added and there is about a $600 charge. And it isn't as full featured as the RA4. Since you cannot swap out a radio in the MY14 JGC, you really want the RA4 from the factory is you are serious about the nav. So find a vehicle with that system from the factory.

Thanks for the replys. That is what I thought. He said the 600 applied even with the 795 radio.

I am shocked at how many salesmen don't know their product. I researched for two hours and I know more than they do. One other salesman had never heard of the Laredo E.

No. 8.4AN has nav from factory.

I think all of us on this site would tend too agree with you on that -- I had numerous instances like this when searching for my 2011. What you have to remember is that for many of them -not all- it is just a job and it ends there.

Good luck with the purchase and enjoy the new ride -- you will love it.
