2014 oil life

I have a 2014 and my oil life went from 74 percent to 23 percent in the last few hundred miles. I am a little over 3000 since my last change and it took over 9000 to go through my oil life meter for the first change.

I just had it at the dealer. Can they mess with the oil life meter? What could cause this?

Same here. Later the same day I got the oil changed, someone commented on this as well-stating it happened after the last transmission update that came out on 9/11/13. Did you have this done?

Re: 2014 oil life

That is why I had mine there, to get the module software updates for the transmission and transfer case...

Re: 2014 oil life

I have seen several threads mentioning the oil life meter on the 2014's.
Is there a meter on the 2013's? If there is I can't find it.

Re: 2014 oil life

Same thing happen to me.
I had my first oil change at 8200~ and then my second one just yesterday at 11900~.
This was after having the Trans RRT done a week before.

Also had to have the trans re-flashed yesterday too.

I love this SUV I hope Jeep can get it right soon.

Re: 2014 oil life

Just had my radio replaced and all updates done. I then changed my oil a few days ago and drove about 250 miles. Now it says I only have 13% left until my next oil change.

Did you check to see if they reset the oil minder?

You should do it now at any rate.

Go to the appropriate screen, with foot off the brake bring the car to the run position. Depress the gas pedal 3 time within 5 seconds.

We have just over 8000 miles in 3 months. The oil meter has been consistent at dropping 1% for every 100 miles. I figured 10,000 miles would be a little long for the first oil change, so we pulled the trigger early. When I went to reset the meter, with the car off, the EVIC was reporting over 41,000 miles since the last oil change. Turned the car off and on and it gave that report a couple times, but showed the actual eventually. Since reset, it has stayed consistent with the 1% for 100 miles, no matter the terrain or city vs highway driving.

If they didn't reset it, then he should be relative to when he reset it.
If they did reset it, then he should have even more time left.

Explicit Reset or Not, would not account for him being suddenly at 13% left.
