All depends on what you and your dealer agree upon before you order. If you agree on the 1% and you try to re-negotiate later, you might lose the sale. Depends also if you put down a deposit.

After I generate "control number" for how long is that valid? I see that I can only generate 2 of them per year.

Thanks a lot for all the replies. I have an idea how the process works.

Looks like I will wait another week or two before putting the order in. I need to know invoice prices because I would rather know exactly how much am I paying for this truck before I commit.

This will be my first time ordering and I'm waiting on the invoice price as well. I'm set on the Overland model, but I fear the official price even with the 1% below invoice will still be out of my allowed budget. If I were to order with the dealer, does that mean I'm stuck buying/committing to the order, or can I change my mind. Also, what's the standard deposit amount people pay to order?

I paid no deposit when I ordered. I ordered from Pat and he said I can back out if the numbers don't line up cuz he would no problem selling it to someone else.

You guys should be locking in your trade in price if you have one to trade like myself. Dealers will hold firm if you order and don't do anything crazy in the meantime. Holdback is close to a a grand that a dealer might split with you on a sold order to help their fast start promo.

So decide your trade in vehicle pricing up front during the order? Could you explain how that helps, as in, at time of ordering versus during receiving of the vehicle?

Go in and look at a '13 or whatever and tell them to put a number in your trade. Then inquire about a '14. I found this to be better and it gives me a chance to make 2 or 3 more payments before the '14 even gets here. Used GC's are at a premium right now locally.
